PC vs APPLE debate *which is better*

All Mac users are hippies, and therefore cannot be trusted =/thread 🙂

But seriously, I like PCs because of the flexibility of them and the fact that they can be upgraded w/e necessary. My sister however is just about to start college and if I gave her a pc laptop something would happen and she would flip out. Therefore I recommended a Macbook for her since they're pretty much dummy proof. Hasn't even hiccuped on her and she's owned it for a year already.

I would also assume that the use of said machine would have an impact. No self proclaimed gamer will every willingly use a mac b/c you forfeit the right mouse button (just kidding) and you're stuck w/ crappy hardware for games. But I've "heard" that macs are good for video/picture editing so there ya go.

My $0.02

Macs are better because after you spend a fortune on one you can show off it everyone while sitting in starbucks drinking a double latte.

oh yea, PC's are sucky because everyone in the world has one so they're not unique. Which means they have more supported software and gadgets.. Who needs that!? With Macs you can be unique and cool. You can pimp around with all white gear specifically made for your computer by Apple.

You may want to peruse this thread, which specifically addresses the 24-inch iMac, but also discusses Mac v 'PC' in more general terms. It started out well (and relatively objective) but later degenerated into the usual religious wars.

Ouch, ye olde 'Mac vs PC' argument, again?

My 2 cents:
Macs are expensive, well-designed and aesthetically pleasing machines that have very limited upgradability and don't run all the software available out there.

PCs can be whatever you want them to be (as long as your wallet can foot the bill) and if built correctly can run any software on the planet (except maybe the stuff that Apple writes 😀).

Mac Books are better because they have that cool light up apple on the cover. Priteee slick..... Eh?

zomg are we reeeally going to have this debate again?

It's very simple.

Gamers - Build a PC. No further discussion required. None. Go home.

Heavy-duty content creators - Buy a MacPro. End of story. Best deal on an 8 core PC in the industry without a doubt. Audio recording in particular is hugely better on Mac OS X due to Core Audio.

Average users - buy whichever you prefer. You can run Windows on either platform so any software differences are irrelevant. If it comes down to performance, PCs will give you more bang for your buck - always (except for the high end, as stated above)

Mac OS X is very fast, reliable, pretty, and easy to use.

Windows XP / Vista are both very fast, reasonably reliable, sort of pretty, and not quite as easy to use 🙂

I love and use both, for specific tasks.

Yep. No way to buy a Windows 8 core Xeon for what the Mac Pro goes for. I've been looking. Most are at least $500 more.

Vista +vlite && Customized PC hardware > Mac.

If they bring in the Mac Pro epic RAM argument, then:

BoXX >> Mac Pro.
