PC vs. 360

Look at games coming out/currently out on PC. Look at games coming out/currently out on 360. Determine which appeals to you more. Purchase.

Yeah, I've been doing that since I posted and it seems to me there's not many good 360 exclusive games. The only one that I really ant is Gears of War. Everything else seems to also be on PC that I liked. Also, their are Halo 3 and Mass Effect coming out, but that won't be for a while.

It looks like I'll just upgrade my computer now and if I want, down the road I'll pick up a 360. Hopefully it will be down in price too.

I thought this was another 'Which is better thread?' There was some confusion as to why people still haven't learned that the PC is superior in every way.

Mass Effect will be coming to the PC after the release of the console version, but hopefully it will have more PC optimizations than its Jade Empire counterpart. And arrive faster. Bioware really dragged their feet on that one, likely Microsoft's influence.

Aren't both the platforms technically Microsofts? 😕

Microsoft doesn't own the PC, they own Windows. Microsoft also does not regulate who makes software for Windows, anyone can make a game that runs under Windows without paying anything to MS.

We don't know that for sure, though Bioware initially said that Jade Empire would be a 360 exclusive, and eventually it came to the PC (ugly graphics, bad controls and all).

After seeing gameplay footage of Mass Effect, it was a letdown seeing the guy just run through with auto-aim on and cakewalk through the entire level. Unfortunately, ME looks like it's primarily a shooter with a few bits of dialogue thrown in. But I'm not touching that sh1tty controller and I'll never use auto-aim, so if it doesn't come to the PC I guess I'll never play it. Probably no big loss by the looks of it.

Oh well, Bioware makes shooters now. Yipee.

I don't nkow abut 360 vs pc but I was shopping in a store over the weekend and saw a ps3 running at 720P on a tv. It was some motorcyle race game. The game itself did not interest me but the graphics were very very good - esp with dynamic lighting. Blew away what i've seen on the xbox demos and quite a few of the pc games I own (i have a 1800xt so not exactly top of the line but not all that slow).

Motorstorm? It's actually a great game...and it is very pretty. The 360 could likely produce that as well, though. Look at Gears of War, for example. But then again, the PS3 can run that same engine (UE3).

I personally would go for the PC. I think it has the best selection of games out now, and coming out. 360 has Halo 3. PS3 also has a lot of hopefully-great upcoming games, but that's later, and I doubt you want one anyways.

I still stand by my Gameboy idea.

I'm pretty sure you should buy an original Game Boy and as many games as possible instead.

I have a black GBA SP available for $35 shipped, shoot me a pm 🙂
(shameless advertisting)

I have both a 360 and a "ok" gaming rig, If I had to do it again, I'd go all out on pc.

A while ago the 360 seemed like a good platform compared to the PC. Then all the games started getting ported over. Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, CoD, Oblivion, and now Lost Planet is making its way to the PC. If Gears of War gets a PC port, that makes pretty much every game on the 360 a PC gamer would have been interested in. Well other than Halo 3.

I think in time the only reason to own a 360 would be if you're into adventure/sports titles.

Huh? Jade Empire wasnt for the 360. It was for the Original Xbox. might want to get your facts straight.

I haven't been using my 360 very much lately. Even though there are a couple games coming out for it that I want, I would rather get them on my PC if possible. There are quite a few good PC games coming out this year as well, but I guess it depends what you're into.

I'm almost exclusively a 360 gamer now... specifically because it just does not make sense to spend $400 in upgrade costs to play the latest games on a PC every few months. Instead, I can drop $400 on a console and I can play all the games made for it until the next generation comes.... Approx 5 year cycle for consoles, instead of 1 year cycle for PCs.

Dont get me wrong, I used to love PC gaming... but its just not cost effective to make sure things run properly.

I have a very good PC and an XBOX 360 with an HDTV. To be honest, I rarely play my XBOX 360, but that doesn't mean I don't have good games (I actually have about 15 XBOX 360 games :Q!). I actually attribute it to a bad detachment I've been having with most games. Personally I've always liked PCs a little more, because you're given more freedom with them... you can do more, although not everything you do requires a huge mamma-jamma of a PC. Also, no console current has World of Warcraft, so I'm a bit stuck with that one too 😉. I also would never play the game on a console, because of the controls, but I have tried to play WoW on the PC with an XBOX 360 controller... unfortunately, it wouldn't use the controller. It's too bad, I wanted to tell someone I destroyed them in PVP with a controller .

But yeah, for me... I don't just play games. I do a lot of other things, so I think a PC is more useful overall. Consoles are still best for gaming and not as much anything else. They try with things like media streaming and such, but I got tired of dealing with restrictions or fiddling with work-arounds, so I just hooked another PC up to my TV.

I heard that the new xbox360 is not hackable like the first one. If it was I would pick one from the hot deals section.

Considering a huge draw for the 360 is the whole Xbox Live scene, why would you want to jeopardize that with modding? It's already got ability to stream video, audio and photos from your computer... as well as download lots of games, movies, and tv shows for a fee.

Really depends on what games you plan on getting. XBox360 has some great race titles/fighters/sports/3rd person shooters out right now. But if you only like Gears of War, I don't really see any real reason to get it, atleast wait till you want atleast 3 games.

Gears is one of the best action titles I have ever played... multiplayer is fun, but I don't remember the last time I beat a game 5 times over (three by myself, twice in coop). It really did live up to the hype and in some ways exceeded it.

1. Buy a used 360 in Hot Deals.
2. Take the money you saved to buy Guitar Hero 2
3. Don't download patch yet
4. Profit!

Right now I play Oblivion.... my friend plays it to on his Xbox.... the 360 look soo lame compared to my PC, and heavy combat plays better on my PC too.

Kinda like comparing the Nintento Cube to the 360....

Anyhow....my useless $.02
