Right heres the issue . I have an old gigabyte 8iexp mobo it was running a (s478 533mhz) 2.26chz p4 with 2x256 (pc2100) corsair memory. I have decided to upgrade this to a 2.8 ( s478 nothwood 533mhz) an it runs fine and dandy until it hangs / crashes! usually whne its just been sitting at the desktop. the cpu fan seems to take of at 6000rpm's (thermal take with thermal temperature sensing jobby which adjusts the fan speed) but when runnig at a stand still it only hits 30oC. At first i thought it could be a faulty processor , so i returned it and got a replacement. and it hung within a day. Rebuilt machine got all the way through the installation installed all the apps the pc had been on for nearly 24hrs. just as i had finished the rebuild. it hung. Any ideas guys ? i 'm stuck and not sure what to do.

i am running the latest bios update for the pc! altho i cant remeber what revision i updated it with theres a rev 1.1 and 2.0 for my mobo ! my mobo is a rev 2.0 so i might give it another flash manually! as for the firmware is there such a thing i am not aware of any firmwar updates ? i thought it was just bios ?
