Hi all,

I set up my new rig (please refer to the bottom of this post for the specs) a few weeks ago and I am getting some random blue screens in Windows 7.

I tested my PC for 24 hours with Prime95 and Memtest86+ at the following settings with no issues:

  • CPU -1.35 V, multiplier = 19, FSB = 200 hz, temp under load < 50 C, temp while idle ~30 C, MB temps ~30 C
  • Memory - 1.65 V, 1600 mhz, 9-9-9-27
Since my first post I've taken multiple steps to see if I can fix this, but I'm running out of thoughts. Below I'm including the summary of what I've done and the output from the Windows dialogue (after rebooting from an issue):

  1. Increased voltage to 1.40, dropped multiplier to 18 from 19, 4 cores unlocked
  2. Maintained voltage at 1.40, kept multiplier at 18, turned off core 3
  3. Maintained voltage at 1.40, kept multiplier at 18, turned off core 4
  4. Maintained voltage at 1.40, dropped multiplier to 16, set it back to 2 cores
  5. Memory settings have been left untouched as follows - 1.65 V, 1600 mhz, 9-9-9-27

Windows Output:
Problem signature:

OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1

Thanks in advance!

The first thing I'd recommend in troubleshooting this is to eliminate the overclock. Take the pc back to factory settings...see if that fixes the problem. If so, try increasing your OC settings slowly and a step at a time.

Do you have any firewall or antivirus software installed?

Yes I have Symantec Endpoint Protection for AV and Zonealarm for a firewall.

All the settings for the PC are back to the factory standard except the voltage at 1.40V, but I didn't think the added voltage would be cause a problem here as it is within the specs of the chip. Is that not true?

Something is obviously amiss so it is possible that the MB is reporting to you one or more incorrect values. Recommend to do as you were advised.

Yep, that's what I thought. When I did a quick Google search on your BCCode yesterday, the majority of the problems stemmed from having ZoneAlarm installed.
