PC to TV using Apple DVI-I to Composite adapter

Hi folks, regular reader here, new to the forums, and a little confused as to where this question should be posted. But here goes.

I just bought the afore-mentioned Apple DVI-I to Composite adapter, and it works well enough when I connect my Mac Mini to my super-old Sony WEGA 21". However, I try the same thing on my PC and all I get is a blue screen. When I restart my PC I can see the BIOS "kinda" flickering through the noise on the TV, but once Windows (and associated drivers) loads up (which I can see on my primary monitor), it's just a clean nothingness.

I have a Radeon 4350 with DVI-I, HDMI and D-Sub connectors - and I had hoped that the DVI-I would be the same kind as on the Mac mini. :( That, and the fact that there weren't any viable alternatives available here in India that were known to work correctly, resulted in me buying the Apple adapter.

But coming back to the actual problem, I started up Catalyst Center and even when I ask it to detect additional displays, it doesn't. For the record, I had earlier tried connecting one of the wires from a DVI-Component adapter-cum-cable to the Composite-In jack on the TV - and while the results were obviously messed up (displaced graphics, no color, lots of flickering and noise), at least Catalyst was able to detect the secondary monitor, and I was able to try cloning the display just for fun.

This time though - with the DVI-composite adapter - it's completely dead, not even any flickering on the TV even when I try forcing Catalyst to clone the display. I tried changing the refresh rate, color-space, resolution all the way down to 640x480, but nothing has worked.

So in desperation, my question is, has anyone ever successfully used a Apple DVI-I to Composite adaptor on a PC with a DVI-I port? And if so, what magic did you have to perform to get it work?

Thanks for the help!

Regards,
Dev

P.S: My TV ONLY has a Composite-In, so S-Video, D-Sub etc were never realistic options. I have heard of some converter boxes but I'm quite certain I won't find them in India, and getting it shipped....well I've thought about it but I still feel like it'd be a little too much effort to simply make my old PC (with that new gpu) useful again. So..the point is, hardly any other options exist for me than to try to make this adapter work. Any help with that would be really appreciated.

Hey guys, does anybody have any idea about this? @Mods, if this question is more appropriate for the Video cards (or some other!) forums, can it be moved over there?

Thanks
