PC Temperature

Hi i'm worried that my comp is over heating because i got Athlon750, Geforce2 etc.. Anyways i want to know the temp in my case. Do you guys know where I can download something that will tell me the temp of my pc.

Also what is a decent temperature to have in your computer.

I just use a Radio Shack indoor outdoor thermometer. Make sure you get one that can read into the triple digits on the indoor temp. I took the probe for the indoor part and extended it to monitor the video card temp. The other probe monitors the ambient temp. inside the case.

This is the one I'm using:

Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer with Large Display $14.99 Cat.#: 63-1009

This one would be nicer since it has the two displays. I have to flip a switch on the one I use to see the second temp.

Dual-display Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer $19.99 Cat.#: 63-1024

well if you go to http://www.tweakfiles.com they have the beta5 Motherboard Monitor which is free to download and workes NICELY (along with my VIA hardware monitor)

also, on my duron 600 @ 650 (ill take it higher later, i just got it) i get 105F on average, 108F after massive processing, but then again i dont have an intake fan YET

I have dual 366a's oc to 550 and have been at 104 to 111f since day one, about a year ago.I dont think 111+ is a problem with my system. It has two fans blowing in/two blowing out two on the harddrives and one each(alpha) on the cpu's.I think 120f would be too high.I have a p3 not o/c and its at 85-90f.But I also had a 300a@450 that was 114f,and it ran fine.

I got a G'Orb on a t-bird 900 it runs at around 50 deg celcius(120 f) i have no problems, it is probably safe to go to 150 f or so

If you want to use software, I would certinly recommend MBM 4.18 or thr v5 beta. My temps are around 36c when playing mp3's and browsing

AMB you have almost my identical system... what drivers are you using for your geforce? I have had some serious problems thanks to VIA + Nvidia...if you have this working can you share your mobo settings etc with me?

My temps:

Idle/Browsing
System: Room temp (20-30)
CPU: (about 4 higher than sys)

Heavy Processing:
System: (about 2 higher than room temp)
CPU: 35-36

troubledshooter:

Via AGP: 4.03D
Nvidia: Creative Fast Trax 6.18

Mobo settings:

APG 4x - I had to use a reg hack: look at 3D Chipest
Sideband Addressing On
Fast Writes On

Just about every thing on max. performance, CAS 2,

Coming to think about it, I did have problems going from 3.68 to anything else with a Tyan 133A, that has now gone with the KT7

Creative must have solved the problem independently 🙁

eVGA is picking their butts. I can't get more than 45 secs of stability out of the 6.18 drivers, and only about 10 min on the 5.32 unless my appeture is set to 32 meg. I guess I'm just stuck until nvidia releases the 6.2 drivers, allegedly suppossed to fix my exact problem 🙁

thanks for the help
