PC Telephone

Does anyone have any experience with using your PC as a telephone? I'm not talking about PC to PC calls like "phonefree.com" but simply using your PC to receive calls with your existing telephone account from Qwest or Bellsouth or wherever. I don't want to replace my service provider, I just want to use my computer to answer calls, etc.

Can you have an answer service, caller ID, etc? What hardware/software works the best?

Thanks!

i used it with my voice modem once. it worked fine, with a headset using a program, forgot what it was tho. however, it messed up my existing phone/answering machine by auto answering and pissed off my family, so i disabled it.

Cusa once offered a free after MIR "internet phone." Basically, that hardware lets you use the phone as a speaker and microphone by hitting a button. When you hit it again, you can toggle back to your normal speakers and normal microphone. You can hook any phone to it. It feels more "right" voice chatting like that.
