PC suddenly won't load initial BIOS screen...(what happened!?!?)

I just reinstalled win2k onto a new HS.
I copied all the old files from the old drive onto the new HD.
It was all set. I went to disconnect the old harddrive, and reconnect the CDrom (all on the same IDE ribbon)
When I go to reboot, the screen now stays BLACK.
The initial "American Megatrends" BIOS startup does not display.

What the %^@ happened?
I am SO frustrated!
Does this ever happen?
Did I short something out?

PC fires up,.,...lights are on....fan is whirring, but thats it
No BIOS startup screen

The ONLY thing I changed was possible the IDE ribbon
but I went back and tried flipping it over (the red stripe) and tried both master and slave.

The PC will not even booot with both HD and CDROM disconnected.

Thanks for ANY advice
I am SO %!$ frustrated.

I took the watch battery thing out, & put it back, and still no BIOS startup screen.
I tried connecting the PC to a different monitor, so I know the monitor is not the culprit.

Any other advice?
Or is this entire PC dead now?

Did you ground yourself before doing anything? (touching the PS is 1 way, only recommended if you have no grounding strap)

Its possible you static charged a component. Nothing but replacing will fix that. 🙁

No I didn't ground myself.
If I didnt ground myself, what could I have fried? The entire MB ?

I tried unhooking all devices again.
I pushed in all other connections.

When I take out RAM, and I power up, monitor light stays yellow.
When the RAM is plugged in, and I power up, monitor light does go green (but nothing is on the screen)
so something IS happening, however slight this is.

Any other ideas?

your cpu may be damaged that happened to me once u have no bios statup and everything else is working its the cpu garenteed

Go figure. I pulled out the RAM to see if the RAM from my other PC would fix it. (It didn't)
But when I put back the original RAM, I may have swapped positions, and viola!.....
The BIOS works, and the PC is back in business !!!
