PC starts but display dies after 2 seconds

So, I have an e8400 machine that I've had since the c2d's came out. I recently installed a new cx500v2 and a 6790 3 weeks ago and have had no problems.

Today I took off the side of the case and cleaned up some dusty fans. After putting them back in, the display won't show itself. I see the splash screen and POST for like half a second and then nothing on the screen. I can hit f5 to get in to bios, but I can't see anything in there either, but I can hit esc and "y" and then enter to exit bios and it restarts, so I know I'm in bios.

I have tried 2 other video cards but they don't get any display at all, not even for the 2 seconds. I'm not sure what the problem is and I could use some help.

I have double and triple checked the wires and taken out and reinstalled every piece of the PC, ram, wireless card, hard drive, etc. I don't know what to do next.

EDIT: I just swapped cpu's as well since my mother in laws pc has a 775 celeron. Still the same thing, display for 3 seconds and then nothing.

Edit2: If anyone cares, I am ordering a new motherboard. I swapped psu's, ram, cpu's, and gpu's with no luck. Good thing it's only $45 to replace it.

This is the first case I've heard of where cleaning the dust off fans kills a computer. You're special 😀

Had customer come in the other day with computer that would not turn on. Before this happened she vacuumed it out.
Swapped PSU & voila! Operational again.

I too have to vacuum out my machine regularly. Whenever something happens like your experiencing, it turns out to have been a disturbed/disrupted wire/connector. So, in your case, you should carefully go thru/over the areas of the mechanisms which you physically touched and carefully inspect the wires and related connectors. I usually just re-seat everything (including memory) and that does the trick.

Vaccum = static electricity = bad

have you tried to take the motherboard out of the case and then try to post it? you may be grounding

I have seen some monitors go out in a similar fashion. The display will show for a few seconds, then go out. But if you look carefully, you can actually see the image still, it is just really dark. S cince you have confirmed the unit is booting or at least in BIOS, and tried several cards, I would suspect your monitor.
