Pc slowed down terribly after Gf 5200 nistall

I know I only have 750mhz and it sucks, but I was using a Gf 3 ti 200 64mb card

I just got done putting in a Gf 5200 128mb card and now my pc is running sooo laggy, everything sems to be struglling
I re-installed the new Nvidia drivers after putting the card in, actully used same drivers for last card..

Anyone know whats up? Is it the card or could it be something else
 
right after i posted that msg, i went to play counterstrike and the pc shut off, 1st time ever doing that!, then when it loaded it went to a blue screen and Xp did a file system check or something, goto XP desktop and error window came up saying the system has came back from a seriosu error, or something..
 
i think it may be cuz the newer card is 4x-8x agp while my board is spitting out 1x, (suports 2x but cant get it switched)

If the AGP slot physically allows the card to be inserted then it is supported voltage wise. I'm pretty sure that's correct. I remember that from the old Voodoo AGP days, when those cards physically couldn't be installed into certain motherboards it caused a stink.
 
The Geforce 3 is faster, hell putting features aside a Geforce 2 Ti is faster than a 5200.

If your card only supports 1x you are putting out IIRC 3.3 volts when you are only supposed to be putting out .8 or 1.5 IIRC.

Just sell that crappy 5200 and put your Geforce 2 back in.

The GeForce 3 is probably faster, return the 5200 if you can.

Just remember, a higher model number DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN IT IS FASTER. Always research before you buy.
 
i got the card with alot of other pc parts as trade. I know the Gf3 is faster, the Gf3 were all around great cards, I don't mean my Pc slows down during gameplay, Im talking regualr use, like opening IE. I think the problem corrected itself because i got that "recovered from a serious error" and now its fine.

just wanted to test the card and make sure it works

I *think* I remember reading somewhere that a few motherboard manufactors did not follow that trend. I could be wrong.
