Earthworm Jim & Earthworm Jim 2, they're obviously old, but they're still very good, there's a pack of both EWJ1&2 available at GoG.com for very cheap, I got it there myself. There's also The Lost Vikings, Black Thorne, Another World (also known as Out of this World), GunBound, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, Aztaka, World of Goo, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Codename: Gordon, Aquaria, VVVVVV (yes, that's the name of the game)... and certainly a few others that I can't think of right now.

Already mentioned: Braid, Jets'n'guns, and Duke Nukem Manhattan.

Because of the proliferation of Flash games on websites, there arent many platformers to be found for money on the computer these days. The advent of 3D gaming didnt help much either, despite the fact you can very easily have a platformer in 3D. But people wanted expansive open worlds to run around in.
