PC shuts down unexpectedly

I log into 3 different machines at work. They are all Windows 2000 machines. 2 out of the 3 machines are logged in just by me. The other one I share with my co-worker. Here's the problem, the pc shuts down unexpectedly. The one I share with my co-worker shuts down 6-8 times a day. The other machine that is strictly mine is starting to do it also, but maybe around 1-2 times a day. I only have 1 good machine left. I don't understand it. The funny thing is, my co-worker whom I share the pc with, he does not have the same problem as me. Help.......

What are you doing (types of programs etc.) on these PC's what this co-worker doesn't do?

A hardware issue isn't likely, unless you're using a piece of hardware the co-worker isn't using.

And what do you mean with 'shuts down'? Does the power just get cut off, or does Windows shut down as though you've told it to do so?

I don't think I'm using anything different than my co-worker. The hardware is the same. The computer just shuts down lilke I told it to, but I didn't. It will go through it's routine of shutting down (Windos is shutting down.....). The weird thing is when I shut it down normally, the pc turns itself off. When it does the unexpected thingy, it leaves me at the window....(It is safe to turn off the computer now). I just found out yesterday that my 3rd and only good pc left is doing the same damn thing! Does it seem like a profile issue?

Have the power company come check your ac outlets voltage for brownouts.

IF it's an internal problem. Check to see if there's any parts short circuiting another. THis might be the problem. Check to see if you're using a MSI board too. I know many MSI boards tend to crap out.

I'm using a Dell Dimension XPS T500. I don't think it's a hardware issue cuz it's happening to 3 different machines that I log into.

What if you create a new account on these PC's and use it for a while?

Hey, by now I bet some of us are considering some kind of influence from you on the PC's, causing them to shut down
