This has happened to my computer for about a year now. and now it's happening to one i built for a friend? am i cursed?

anyways. Pc runs 100% until you turn it off (restarts work fine). after it is powered down it has trouble turning back on. it either takes hitting the power button about 1000 times, or a combination of unplugging PSU/flipping switch on PSU then hitting the power button.

When i flip the PSU switch back on, my mouse and keyboard get power (lights blue underglow) and the MB light comes on. but still has problem. take about 2-3min of switching/unplugging for it to boot. then it works perfectly.

they are both 350 watts.

the back switch is set to 115v (I dont know what that means)

when you hit power there is no fan kick on, HD spnning, or anything. so I dont think its a CPU heating issue. any help is appreciated. if you need more info let me know.

Specs:

AMD athlon 2400XP
512mb of PC3200 valueselect ram
ati x800 pro
Gigabyte ga-7N400 pro2
350Watt PowerUp PSU
80gb WD ata HD

i had similar specs in an older pc of mine, what i did was grab a spare hard drive, installed clean windows than ghosted back to my 80 and it worked fine. but in ur case it might be the psu possibly the board. i used to have a gigabyte and i sent it in for rma so much it was like reading a book with all the rma stickers it had on it

First thing to eliminate is the power button itself. Pull off the pwr switch FP connector and try starting the PC by momentarily jumpering the pins.
