What should I do about my case of the PC Security Shield virus?

  • Copy important files and format the hard drive

  • Use my excellent idea (which i will post in the forum...)!

  • Burn the computer.

  • Buy a mac?

Also should include that I've removed the hard drive and put it in my computer running xp and I've ran spybot and AVG on the hard drive to remove virus/trojans in the past. Once removed I returned the hard drive to its' computer and ran Windows Defender to clean up the last of it but it PC Security Shield appeared again after about a month...

Start by downloading and running (in safe mode) Malwarebytes from here:

http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4716-malwarebytes-anti-malware.html

It is a very good program and helped when a pc was infected with Antivrus XP2008
And be sure to backup your personal data files, just in case you need to reinstall.
Be sure to let Malwarebytes do a complete scan, not just a quick one. Let it fix whatever it finds.

In addition, review where you may be picking this virus up. It could be in a file you may use once a month, or on a web site you visit once a month or so.

Thanks!
I will try Malwarebytes asap.

The computer I'm fixing is my brother's. We can't really work out where he got the virus although I suspect it was from a drunken visit to a dodgey porn site.
