well, I've been having problems with my memory dying on me a few times

first time, I was overclocking stock voltages pc stopped posting removed one stick of ram post

second time, I get the memory replaced don't overclock this time as I thought that may of been the problem maybe the motherboard not giving it the correct voltages or heat killing the memory.

well, one stick died again so I was left with 1GB didn't feel like sending the memory back in so I stayed with 1GB for awhile. Today, my computer decides not to post tried re-setting the bios from the little button on the motherboard and from the supposedly power switch way. the computer turns the fans on everything running just no display and it doesn't seem to boot into windows as my lights on my audio equipment and keyboard would change.

I bet it's just another memory problem but after all these times I am starting to think it may be more like bad motherboard, or my psu fluctuating voltages.

specs are in the link in my sig

Thanks

If you have had four separate memory sticks die in the motherboard, I would definitely suspect something wrong with the RAM slots in that board. Do you have access to another computer that you can try your memory in to see if they are actually dead or if the motherboard just isn't reading them?

unfortunately, I only have one computer with DDR2

the computer does turn on fans spin like it's the normal everyday boot but I get no display and and it doesn't boot into windows as my lights on my keyboard and my audio equipment would change.

I'll be sending them back most likely tomorrow for replacement

If i can get my hands on a voltmeter I'll check my rails

I just don't understand why they keep dying

heat? my front two 92mm fans get a good amount of airflow right in the direction of the memory so I have a hard time believing they are getting killed by heat.

under or over voltages? I never overvolted them when overclocking and as far as undervolting maybe the motherboard is doing that? hmm, maybe the bios has the voltages lower than they are supposed to run on.. idk

it's possible but I have no real proof to support these ideas

for now it's the memory that's dead anyways whats killing them is the question could be the motherboard like you said could be the power supply. In the end I need to get a voltmeter and see how the voltages are if there good and my memory dies again I'll look into the motherboard situation.

thing that sucks about RMAing stuff not having your PC running so if you like me you try to prevent that as much as possible. In this case, I have no working memory so sending it back won't be any different.

Thanks for everyone posting

well, thought I'd update this :p

I got the memory back awhile ago it's been working flawlessly and made sure the memory was at 2.2V

heat wise they seem pretty good not hot but warm to the touch

if it dies this time I'll know I have problems
