Wow Mem, that's kinda strange, you could play the game fine on Vista? I wonder why your vista was fine and mine was messed up. I don't get it, now i'm not entirely sure what the issue is. Thought i might need a new hard drive and OS but you've just proven basically that its probably not my OS. But i'm wondering if not all OS's are created equal. I mean one persons vista may work fine while anothers does not.

Your problem is very strange since you have some games working,anyway hopefully you'll find out what the problem is.

A very odd problem considering some games are working and others aren't and the things you tried already. If you have really tried everything that you can think of or that other have suggested then I would go with the hdd and new install and see if that solves your problem before seeing if its hardware related.

Neither of those ideas worked Mem. I know everyone is helping out and i'm sorry if i'm getting on your nerves. I guess the one thing in all this is i haven't let it stress me out to the point where i want to toss the computer. I'm very much interested in finding the root of the issue and i'll continue to keep this post fresh until i have come to a resolution. Its been a very difficult struggle to figure out what the problem is. At this point i'd laugh if it was something simple and obvious. But with PCs nothing involved in their workings is simple for me. This is simply a problem that is beyond me in its scope. Any other ideas would be great. I'll keep trying stuff till i figure this whole mess out. Thanks for your continued support.

Yeah and it didn't do anything other than maybe install the directx 9.0 into my computer lol. i really don't know what else i've not tried to be honest. Have we really missed anything?

Are you using any anti-virus software I wonder if that might be causing any issues,btw if you type reliability above start menu(bottom left corner) in search box and select it it should give you an option for reliability monitor chart which has little red crosses for crashes etc does that say anything when you click on the red circled crosses?

Btw make sure UAC is not disabled ,when disabled it has been known to cause issues with some games.

I know the anti virus programs aren't the cause of the game not running. I uninstalled them and tried to run the game but it still wouldn't work. I just looked at my chart and i noticed that i had several OS stopped working windows failures. So i'm wondering if that has anything to do with the game not working properly. Maybe i should go back to service pack 1 or something.

It's not Vista,I was using it as my main gaming OS including beta game testing(Vista x64) for many years including WoW with no issues , do not buy into the sucks rumours from a lot of uneducated people your problem is probably something else.

Win7 I'm using at the moment is slightly better then Vista on resources but stability is still the same ie both excellent for gaming etc..

Actually, Vista is not good for gaming, because it stores a copy of every open window in VRAM on the video card, which greatly limits the ability of a game to fully utilize the video card.

Win7 is worlds better than Vista.

Your post is pointless it does not help Kev_Be does it?....we can argue all day and still have different views...


Getting back on topic let us know if new HD, clean install of OS solves the issues, if it does not then I would try a different video card,you have to start eliminating hardware once software has been ruled out.

anybody understand all that? Because i have no idea what it means for me. I did get the login or main screen to work so i can at least log into the game. Its just when i went to download the new content i purchased through the online store it crashes then gives me all that info. I have no idea what that means for this PC now. But its just one problem after another even after i paid nearly 100 dollars to play the game and buy a game time card. Well i guess i just did something stupid by doing that.

Please oh please, stop this MISINFORMATION. That is soooooooo far from the truth. I ran many games on that OS from 2007-2009 prior to moving on to Win 7.

There has not been a Windows OS that I could not game on matter of fact. But please stop posting erroneous opinions like this.

I've been gaming on Vista 64-bit for several years and have had absolutely no (as in zero, nada, zilch) problems with any game running correctly as have many others on this forum. Vista is just as good as Windows 7 in most areas. There are a few where W7 is better, but honestly, it's not noticeable to the majority of users. You're simply regurgitating misinformation you heard years ago about Vista that is no longer true.

It is very likely that you have a corrupt installation of Windows. Can you let us know what HP model you have? Do you have all the original CD's/DVD's that came with the computer?

Edit: Did you ever run memtest?

The HP model? Is that the PC model your talking about Mem? I have a gateway FX 6800-01e. Dunno if that's the info you were asking about or not but the original CDs for the windows vista are not with the PC. The person i bought the PC from didn't have them. Either he lost them or got rid of them. Either way i'm not going to be able to rely on the original discs of Vista this PC ran on. So you have any ideas?
