Here is what is going on. My friend's system was working fine for about a year, system specs are as follows:

MSI K7T-Pro
AMD Athlon 1Ghz
512mb PC133
IBM 75GXP 15GB
Sony 48x CD-ROM
Diamond Viper 770
10/100 NIC
Windows 2000 Pro

About two months ago, she said he system crashed, and after rebooting, the hard drive disappeared. At first I thought it was another 75GXP going down the toilet. But after getting into her system, and re-connect the IDE cables and checking everything, the system booted up just fine. So I thought maybe a glitch or something. I flashed the latest BIOS, and things should be okay.

Well, two weeks ago, while just doing some browsing on the internet, her system completed crashed again, and this time, the system won't even start. She turns on the computer, and nothing but a blank screen. SOMETIMES, it shows the Diamond Viper 770 right when the computer starts, but after that, nothing. Strange thing is that the computer is running, just doesn't do anything.

I assumed it was the power supply, and I replaced it with a new 300w PS. Well, I thought that was the fix. But 3 days later, the samething happened. Could it be the PS again? Could the motherboard be going bad? Please some suggestions.....

Had a similar problem recently and it was the motherboard. Thats what I would start with.
