PC Power & Cooling PSU is it worth it?

I've just experienced my first exploding PSU. It was an Antec True 480 that lasted about a year and now it's replacement won't even boot up the computer. Luckily all my components are okay because I tested everything with a old Sparkle.

So now I'm looking for a new PSU and I've hear good things about PC Power & Cooling. Does anyone on these boards have one? If so how is it?

Thanks

PCP&C was legendary as a PSU manufacturer a few years ago. I would assume that they still have the know-how. All you can do is jump on some comparitive reviews.

In a word, "YES"! It is definately worth it, best PSU, with the tightest voltages tolerances, one of the longest, if not the longest, warranties (5 years). Best PSU I have ever had, and I do love Antecs (have about 6). Plus the way they define their wattage ratings is at operating temps, not at unrealistic temps that most PSU manufacturers use to boost their ratings. Their 510 Deluxe can do something like 600w at the same temps most manufactures use to post their ratings. Integrated SATA power connectors, quality components throughout!

Plus, they even posted my email as a testimonial!

Did I mention that I love my PSU?!?!

If you don't wanna spend a fortune but want high quality, check out
the thermaltake Purepower 480Watt unit from Newegg.

Best power supply i've used for $55 + shipping.

I like antec's as well, and picked this over the True430 unit i had.
this one just runs much cooler and very heavy duty. (also heard a lot of stories
of antec's blowing up)

good luck :)

Antecs are way better than Thermaltake. Just remember, Thermaltake doesn't make anything that isn't a knock off piece of crap with bling added.

Not to knock PCP&C, not at all, but their reputation is built on rebadging quality products from other manufacturers, and providing excellent service to commercial customers... When price is no object, they definitely deliver...

The best value in high quality power supplies can be had in the Zippy/Emacs and Fortron/Sparkle lines, both of whom have been and may continue to be suppliers to PCP&C...

just curious, but if they rebadge other manufacturers how come they're the only ones with 1% voltage tolerances vs. 5% for everyone else? they're also the only ones with a 5 year warranty vs. 1-3 years for others

on the op's topic, i've have both an antec tp480 and enermax 550 blow on me so now i have the pcp&c 510 deluxe. the voltages on the 510 deluxe are amazing, i rarely even see them move. i actually laugh ed when i switched from the enermax and was watching the volts on the 510 deluxe not move, i thought the readings were not monitoring.

but i think the antec and enermax blowing had to do with the area i was living in having problems with their electricity fluctuating.

i think the antec tp would probably most practical for people, especially with their warranty service.

I have been researching this for the past two days and cannot find another PSU that matches spec wise with the 510. While it is probable that these are made for PC P&C, I don't think they are just rebadged $100 PSUs.

I wouldn't mind saving $100, if someone could point me in the right direction.

I was under the impression that they built their own. I've got a 330W psu from pc p&C its worked just fine in my athlon +2500 rig. The only downside
is this model is kinda noisy and i'd like to quite it down a bit. I might contact them to see if i can do that without voiding the warantee.

I believe some of their units (mostly lower-level) are rebadged models, with slight mods like different fans, etc. in them. Perhaps deeper mods to rebadged units would explain the tighter voltage ratings.

I have a silent 275atx, and that thing is incredible. I would HIGHLY recommend pc power & cooling, if you have the money to spend and the need for something that great.

I got me a Globalwin SAF-520. It has impressive specs, awesome looks, good line regulation features, and cost me 95 bucks off of Hardforum. I can give you the guys AIM if you want it, don't talk to him anymore, but I added him to my buddy list and he's still there! :)

i tried several powersupplys for this dual amd computer and found only the pcpower could give me enough power for my needs

TTGI 550 watt was the worse one i tested
Sparkle 550 watt was good , but everytime i increased cpu voltage to the cpus it would fail to bootup
Zippy 460 was much the same problem as the Sparkle

There is OCZ powersupply which i havent seen out , just a review of and it looked very strong, it has adjustable voltage pots outside the powersupply so you can adjust if necessary
