I just got an ipod off a person and I don't know if it's PC or Apple. I can't get in contact with the person and I don't want to buy the firewire card or cable if I can't use it for my PC. Anyone wanna help? thanks~

EDIT: Ok, so I know windows can be reformatted to MAC, but you can't do it the other way. So my question is, if I have virtual PC and install mac on it, would I be able to use it?

You can use either with your pc. If it's a mac ipod, you have to reformat the drive in fat32, then use musicmatch jukebox with it. I'm pretty sure that you can format to fat32, but if you can't you don't need to use virtual pc. Instead you can use xplay or ephpod.

Look at [L]http://www.ephpod.com/listserver-archives/3288.html[/L] for more info.

Virtual PC is to run Windows on a Mac, not Mac OS on a PC.

Anyways, if you have the Apple version, just format it to FAT32. I dunno if the Apple version comes with MusicMatch Jukebox though.

BTW, I suspect the reason he sold it is because the new iPod came out last week.

I was at ChumpUSA yesterday and an Apple rep dropped the new iPod in front of me to give me a demo, And I think my jaw hit the floor..New iPod is awesome!! Now if I only had the $299 to get one. ;)
Sorry if that doesn't help your problem ku, But I had to share my excitement. :D

The Mac version of the iPod is packaged with iTunes instead of MusicMatch Jukebox. I don't even think that MusicMatch is available for the Mac.

Just reformat the drive on the iPod to FAT32 and you'll be fine. The actual player is the exact same thing hardware-wise.

I don't think it's as easy as simply reformatting... the firmware goes in at the beginning of the drive so if you just reformatted it you would probably lose that part and make your ipod unusable.
