PC Monitor as an HDTV

How can you do this for cheap? Is there any HDTVs out there that have a resolution higher than 1366 x 768? I am going to use the monitor/HDTV for schoolwork, gaming, watching TV, and playing 360. Please help!

Bumping an old thread. Can you use Dish Network's or DirectTV HD-DVR with HDCP? Hell I don't even know if those receivers have an HDCP port. Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: Also I am wondering if this monitor would do.

Yes that monitor would work. Let me just note that there is no such thing as a "HDCP port". HDCP is "high definition content protection" and its just a DRM like scheme of transmitting data. HDCP is supported through some HDMI interfaces.

I watch DirecTV HD on my samsung monitor. Looks awesome too. Most monitors have the connections you need. Just plugs right in like any TV. I have my HD-DVD player hooked up to it also.

Great choice, 1080p for cheap!

One more question. If I decide to keep my Soyo, could I just use a HDMI (from receiver) to DVI (monitor) cord? thanks in advance 🙂
