This might be a boon time for us PC Geeks. CPU and RAM prices are at record lows. I know all my machines are getting at least 128 more of RAM. What about you?

I tried putting another 128 MB in my system, but I nuked two Mosel Vitalic REV2 sticks before giving up.

weird... almost sounds like there's something wrong with that slot, either shorting or it's giving too much voltage, but you said that your other DIMM worked in there... very weird. maybe they got damaged somehow in the shipping?

that sucks :(

Viper,

Sorry about your board. About a year ago, I remember people having similar RAM problems with Abits successor to the BH6.

Did you try and clean (blow out the dust) the slots out before you replaced the old RAM? Does your old RAM still work in another slot?

Yup, old RAM works in any slot. They're both Mosel Vitalic REV2 sticks, too. Different batches, but the same damned chips.

One stick seems to be invincible, two have gone toasty on me.

I had a similar prob Viper. My mobo fried a stick of Corsair PC133 :( But I called the distro that I got it from and they sent out another stick right away. Thank god it was a no hassle deal. Anyways, it's working fine now. Same slot that fried the other stick - works fine now. *shrug*

Maybe that one is an assasin!

Did you try a stick without that one in the machine?

OOps, just read last nights thread.

I was planning on picking up anther 128 for each of my machines but decided that there were better things to spend the cash on.

Still need a router, switch, and a real cpu.
