PC - Mac G4 - Linksys router...HELP

Okay, I thought this would be a snap but I am stuck. I have a PC running Win ME, a Mac G4 running OS X, and a 4-port linksys router. I am using Sprint DSL. Both computers work fine when connected directly to the DSL modem. But when I try to run both of them throught the router, only the PC can log on. The router is recognizing both connections and all indicator light say the connection is good. But still can't get online with the mac.
Tried calling Sprint, they won't help
Tried calling Linksys, they said it should work but can't offer any help for Mac's
Tried calling Apple, they said something needs to be changed in the router but don't know what.
I was hoping someone has gotten this to work or knows how to do this and can help me out.
I've read some of the other threads like this but didn't really help out since I can connect fine without the router.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You likely just need to tell the Mac the address of your gateway (router). In the TCP/IP control panels, put the IP of your router in as the Gateway. Then add the DNS, etc info.

<< thanks, but i have a dynamic IP. can i get it to work somehow with that? >>

The dynamic ip on the outside should be fine. Its the dynamic ips on the inside you need to disable. Its part of the "troubleshooting procedure". Also, make sure the Mac has the correct DNS/gatway settings. If the gateway is correct, try pinging www.yahoo.com and 64.58.76.178.

Questions:

Is the Linksys router set to SERVE IP addresses to the "internal" machines (the PC and the Mac)?
If so, does the Mac set for "DHCP" in the the TCP/IP control panel?
If so, does it receive an IP address?
If so, does it receive a Default Gateway address?
If so, does it receive any DNS server addresses?

I've seen many instances where a Mac WILL receive some DHCP info, but not all, notably DNS server addresses.
Without any DNS servers, you can't do anything of any consequence on the Internet.

If you AREN'T receiving DNS server addresses, then enter them manually.
Check the PC if you aren't sure what the address values should be.

Woohoo!!!! I got it to work! Although I don't think it should be. After I tried every option I could to no avail I started trying some wahzoo stuff. Even though my dsl requires PPPoE to be enabled, it turned it off on the mac. and even though the linksys requires all other DHCP's to be turned off, I turned the macs on. and viola! 1.5 connection on both machines.
I don't understand why this works though. The DHCP on the Mac should be conlficting with the DHCP on the router, and without PPPoE enabled, I shouldn't be able to get on my DSL.
But who cares! Thanks for all the help Anandtech. And if anyone else is experiencing this problem, I guess just try what I did.

PPPoe should be on the router I think, not the client machines (atleast some routers support it). Anyhow, glad you got it working. BTW, do you do dj stuff on the mac? If so what programs do you use? There arent many for OS X.

yeah, i used to dj alot. now i am getting into production. a lot of the dj stuff i do is on my pc. jsut because it think it is better and easier. but the mac is going to be for my production stuff. i will be running pro-tools on it. unfortunatlely, mac's are the standard for the recording industry.
i don't think there is much for the mac though. i don't think you can even get sound forge, acid pro, or even most mp3 download sites. so far, limewire is the only mp3 site i have found.

There are a few software piracy p2p programs out there. I dont care much about them. But for Mac OS X, the only application for making music stuff is Abelton Live. Pro-tools (last I checked) only works on Mac OS < 10. Atleast thats the version Ive been playing with a little bit.

hmm, that might be true. luckily i have both 9 and 10 on my mac. i am going to buy pro tools from my school so i'm sure it will work. i will deffinitely check it out though. i think all the macs at my school use 10 but i am not sure. just started on thurs.

I loaded 9 just to play around with it.

you can have both on your mac. i run with 10, but when i need to do something in 9 i just open it up and it runs though 10.
do you dj or anything?

I dont like the compatibility mode. I dont dj. I was interrested in playing with some of the software, found a free copy of protools and decided it was worth putting OS 9 back on my Mac along with 10 just to play with the software.
