PC losing video

Well, I've been trying to figure this one out for awhile now. I was not getting any video on startup, not even the bios screen. I ordered a used video card from ebay. Still having the same issue. Sometimes I will get video and it will even get into windows XP for a couple of minutes and then the monitor will just lose signal. The pc is still on, but there is no video. I shut it down and turn it back on, and nothing. Video will not come back until a couple of times trying to turn it on. I have already tried disconnecting all other components and it does the same thing. It is a Gateway P4 1.8 with 512MB Rambus memory. There is no built-in video card.

Please provide any suggestions I can try.

Thanks,

Chad

I have not tried a different monitor because the monitor signal comes on that says it is working and to check your signal. I will try it though.

Thanks
