PC Keeps Rebooting

LockOn

Junior Member
I have an Athlon 600 on a gigabyte GA-71XE mobo, matrox mystique gfx card. Everything was working fine untill it run out of space. Then is started rebooting after about 15 mins of uptime. I removed some stuff to get some space back and ran scandisk in safe mode. After several tries I finally managed to get the machine booted again, then after a couples of mins, it reboots again. After a few more tries it started rebooting on windows loading. I then formatted the hard drive and installed Win Me on it. In the middle of installing it crashed (not reboot), i then rebooted and it finished installing WinMe. I was able to boot into WinMe okay and load on the relevant drivers. I then started copying files back to it over my network and in the middle of copying the machine rebooted again. I then re-formated and starting installing Win 98SE, which rebooted in the middle of installation. I have run PC Check-It to test the processor, memory, hard drive but no errors were detected. Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem could be.

🙁

But the machine has been working fine for about 6 months. Don't see why anything would need changing.

You could check your cooling, and try minimal install of hardware gear, then try installing OS,I`ve seen Windows freeze on install with modems and NIC cards installed,it`s possible you may have a hardware fault somewhere, don`t trust software diagnostic programs,I had one that said my cpu was fine, but turned out it was faulty.
