Yeah, I feel like a noob. Recently, whenever I download something, Firefox and all of my other windows will lock up (I'm running XP by the way). If I leave it for a few minutes it will eventually start working as normal. Also, every now and then I'll get an error message when I try to paste or move an icon on my desktop. I can't think of anything I've done recently that would cause this other than a CPU and GPU overclock several weeks ago. I've gone 14 hours on Prime95 though without any errors and around 60C degrees on both. No artifacts in games or anything either.

Has anyone heard of this? As always, any help is appreciated!

EDIT:

So today I ran Auslogics BoostSpeed and cleaned up my HDD a lot. Seems to have fixed all of my problems, and even Firefox is way quicker than I remembered. Cool...

Examine the System Event and Application Event logs for any errors. Also, it might help if you noted what the "...I'll get an error message..." message is.

I am having some strange deadlocks too in firefox, bitcomet and utorrent... dunno the cause of it, and event viewer doesnt show up much stuff for deadlocks... I am moving around random configs every time it hangs to see if by chance I manage to fix it in one.
