And how much is Arizona going to save by being less burdened by illegals? You are staunchest pro-illegal immigration poster on these boards, we need to give you a medal.

I find it humorous that senseamp wants the government to solve just about any problem, EXCEPT, it seems, illegal immigration.

That's because his grocery bill might go up a buck or two because of produce. He's a tool of the worst type.

Yes, I want government to solve problems, not invent them.

Really, so which "problem" are they inventing if they enforce laws that are already on the books and should have been enforcing for years?

You might save a dime on a head of lettuce if you let an illegal immigrant harvest it, but what about the high taxes you're paying in the PRC for all the strain and burden they put on the economy there?

Estimates say they cost the state 1.4 BILLION every year.

Obviously this law wont get rid of all illegals in the state, but I'd expect it to take quite a chunk out of that 1.4 BILLION.

*edit*

They cost your state over 10 billion each year.

But who gives a fuck right? You can get a can of peaches for seven cents cheaper!

Are these people breaking the law? YES or NO.

Should people who break the law be punished? YES or NO.

Should the US be paying for illegal immigrants to live here illegally? YES or NO.

I don't give a damn if you're upset that you might have to pay $1/quart more for strawberries. Have you ever considered that these people are being exploited? Have you ever considered that when they go to the hospital, you have to pay and they are a big reason HC is so expensive?

SMACK!

All totalitarians favor citizens being forced to bow to the government, but in reality it's only for what they would like to see.

It's like enforcing the speed limit, yeah, technically everyone is breaking the law if they go 40 in a 35, but the effect is that everyone gets home a little bit quicker. Would it be better if they raised speed limit to 40 and everyone obeyed the law, yeah, but absent that, we'll just have to stick to speeding.
Our state's agriculture would collapse without illegal immigrant labor. A little more for a head of lettuce is still not going to be enough for American worker labor to compete with overseas farms. I'd rather have agriculture stay in CA and get my veggies fresh and cheap, thank you very much.

YES
YES
NO

In a perfect world. In reality, don't let perfect be the enemy of good. And reason HC is so expensive is that the market is broken, not illegals. Legalize them and make them buy insurance under Obamacare.

Set sail for fail. Bad analogy. Are Arizona speeders costing their state the tax revenues on $1.4 billion in lost wages? Are Arizona speeders getting free health care at the local ER? Are Arizona speeders not paying income taxes? I could go on, but you see the point.

So why can't high school kids be hired to do the work?

"Since undocumented students may be participating on any of our extracurricular teams, we need to ensure that all of our students can travel safely, especially in the United States," Suzan Hebson, the assistant superintendent, said Thursdayin an e-mail to the Tribune.

OK, so why isn't the school taking measures to ensure these kids are legal rather than letting the taxpayer foot the bill for their education?

I doubt that will bankrupt agriculture, you are making it sound doom and gloom. They would just have to pay people fair wages.

http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/immigrationnaturalizatio/a/caillegals.htm

Even if you assume this study has any credibility, most of it is for education for children of illegals, which is an investment in the future, if we let these kids stay here and use their education to benefit the economy. The second part is health care, well yeah, you are going to have to pay for health care of farm workers one way or the other, illegal or not. Third one is incarceration, now that one I agree, just deport them once convicted.

That's what I originally suspected.

However, I don't see how an illegal alien student could go on a trip requiring a passport, such as China; they wouldn't be able to get a passport. Are trips abroad now cancelled too?

You want American kids in the fields instead of studying and preparing for future jobs? How much is that going to cost our economy down the road?

The school is just making up whatever they can and hoping the story goes away.
