pc hanging up!!

ok, I always turn the pc off through the start menu, but only recently has it been acting like this. I dont know why.

it shows me the "windows is shutting down" screen for I dont know how long and I get tired of it so I just hold the power button until its actually off.

so, I was wondering what can be causing this, its only been happening recently and not all the time. this is very aggrivating!!

Could be any number of reasons.

- too many things running in the background
- virus
- adware/trojan
- badly fragmented HD

Or any combination of the above.

i think your hard drive is failin n' it hungs prolly when it tried to flush the virtual memory it reads on a sector that's probably defective and caused read/write error that why it took so long ... normally on any system with a p4/athlon equivalent would shut down under a minute. 40 seconds is probably the max... ( this is just one probability) could also be memory or databus on the mobo is failin'.
