OP spends hundreds of hours researching to come to the conclusion that he wants a 50inch plasma in order to avoid minor image imperfections, while at the same time contemplating whether he could live with a 3 LCD side-by-side screen setup.

*scratches head*

3x BenQ XL2420T. triple monitor setup with extended resolution. That would be sick.

Uh no it isn't. High end front projection in a light controlled room is.

Seeing flat panel LCD and plasma in stores makes me laugh and puke at the same time. Set top LCD/plasma panels are for little kids rooms to watch Sponge Bob on.

Stop by when you are in AZ some day and I'll be happy to demo Wall-E or Avatar for you at 120 hz on such a projector if you want to see and focus on individual grains of sand in the ground as it pans by at high speed.

Didn't you get the memo...ever since LCD's introduced the slim form factor people cannot see poor I.Q anymore...the talk about LCD's and plasma llike they have high I.Q....when infact tehy have surpassed the CRT's they replaced.

I might have to go projector when my CRT's dies...because I cannot live with the I.Q of LDC's and Plasma...it's a downgrade for me.

The new GT50 screen possesses 4:4:4:

True, but that's not the end all be all determining factor of whether it can take a 120Hz input signal at the resolution mentioned. This is just a TYPE of signal input related to color sampling.

There's still the matter of BW/bitrate and whether the set will accept it.

For the very first day when i got my Samsung plasma, i had it in that distance basically as a "monitor", just to see how it would be.

The low resolution might be a problem at that distance, it is also far too close for a plasma.

Troll: a person with entirely way too much time on their hands that has to chime in and make remarks that don't contribute but rather annoy others.

Alright, knock it off

Can't believe anybody would even consider this. I use a 26" 1200 res. monitor and this is close to max I would use as a monitor from approx. 3 feet distance. Maybe 30" at the most with higher res.

I also have a 50" panny plasma, would never ever use it that close. You want to use 720 resolution too, LOL. Picture will look ugly, text terrible, and give headaches. Not recommended.

could you link me? Not trying to be a dick, I just havent seen anything regarding motion in relation to the D series plasma's, and I visit AVS forum too.

If you read my prior posts you would notice that I had said "I saw it with my own two eyes" and to actually go to a video store and do a comparison. You will notice immediately the difference. Let them roll credits on both and watch it. You will see. Do you want links on all the problems plaguing Samsung?

I know of some of the problems. When you mentioned flashlighting though, it made me think you were confusing them for their LED counterparts because flashlighting is specific to LCD screens. Also, the samsung plasmas have motion smoothing options, so im not sure what you are talking about. All im saying is that you're the first person I've seen say anything about motion problems on the Samsung plasmas.

The Panasonic models had problems too, surely you read about the "green blobs".

Projectors are amazing, I have one in my living room at 122" right now, I love the fact that if you want better quality per area you can literally just turn the focus and adjust the size of the screen from something that large right down to something more like a 50" TV.

Some games suffer from having such a massive screen because you need more screen space in your focused vision and less in the peripheral, so just adjust and boom, done. Console games look diabolical on large screens but PC gaming is a real treat in 1080p with maxed out settings :)

Same for me. I just don't like gaming on my Pioneer any more. With online shooters I end up playing worse than on a 24" monitor. I occasionally use my plasma as a secondary monitor but 90% of the time it's for TV and films.

If you are going by displays in a store you make me laugh. They are just plugged in and ready to go they don't do any tweaking to them. I really grow tired of people comparing TVs picture based on what they look like in the store.

I use a Sharp 60 inch LED (model - lc60le830U). I sit about 7-8 feet away and I love it. There is minor clouding that I only notice in a still frame of pure black. The clouding isn't even bright, and some users claim the clouding clears itself up with more picture time. I suppose I'm not as discerning on picture quality as many others, so the fact there is clouding doesn't bother me in the least. I rather enjoy the sharpness of the image at 1080 resolution though.

I know you are only interested in plasma, but if you were to be swayed by LED, then sharp is the only brand to go with.

I've done hundreds of hours of research. The Panasonic ST50 is the king TV. Everything else is moot. Samsung is worthless, unreliable and prone to failure. Also it has no motion smoothing. If you roll credits of a movie on the screen you will notice that it stutters as the text scrolls down screen, if you look at the Panasonic ST30 its smooth and almost no jitter. On the ST50 it's ultra smooth. ".

Samsung displays most certainly do have motion smoothing/frame interpolation, and have done for many years, not sure where you are getting your info from... its called anti judder on Samsung, and you can effectively run up to 240 fps displayed on screen.. The high end Samsung displays (7 series and above) allow you to run 3D at 1920x1080 checkerboard 120hz for gaming too...

For PC use I would recommend S-PVA LED display (I have both LED and Plasma), but if you really just want the best 3D quality you cant beat rear projection units (or projectors) which have zero crosstalk.
