Maybe I just have too high expections but I just bought Fifa 2004 and Max Payne 2. The Story is quite cool in Max Payne 2 and also the gameplay but I'm already bored somehow. And Fifa 2004, don't even get me started... where the heck can I change the controls? The manual is a joke. The menus look like a$$... a couple years ago, it was like the games were made with passion and love but today, it's more of a lets-get-the-sequel-out-as-fast-as-possible. Bleh.

BF1942: It's only fun if you are like 20 friends playing that game, otherwise... I think I'm just not impressed anymore by the graphics. Never got into homeworld and that's true. Medal of Honor rocks... is Call of Duty an Add-on or a sequel?

It's because they are all the SAME as previous games. New story, same gameplay makes the games get boring quicker.

Call of Duty is anything but boring, same with BF1942.

I agree though, a little variety might do some good. Civilization 3 is a good time waster when I'm just not in the mood to play a FPS.

1942 is great online.

call of duty is by the original mohaa team🙂 its not a mohaa addon/expansion bullsh*t.
 
There are several nice ones, though:
Worms 3D is/will be a great one.
Tony Hawk 4 is quite long, too, if you like it.
I miss really good strategies. Zero hour was too short, AOM Titans is still too fast-paced and lacks real strategies. WC3 FR is too fast and mindless on the net, where mass-rushers rule.
FPS games are getting too common, too short and seem more and more content-free in SP. I play FPS games online rarely, I didn't find any of them addictive.

there weren't many games this year that i went back to after playing them through. i've too much the feeling of "been there done that".

that said i always get back to rainbow 6: raven shield.
if you want a single player game that has 20+ hours gameplay (i'm at over 30 and finally at the last level) grab yourself a copy of thief 2: metal age. gameplay is just fantastic (if you're into stealthgames that's the one to go for).

that said, grab yourself a girl and have some quality play-time😛

Man.. I just started up the game and futzed around for a while and gave up because I couldnt find out where to change the controls.

The game seemed way too slow compared to the old ones too. I am going to go back to FIFA World Cup and uninstall this one.

Oh well.

yeah, stupid controls... damn... I hate it when I can't customize the control settings... and the menus are sooooooo cheap... bleh.
 
I think once you have played several games from a genre, the "newness" factor has worn off. I loved MOH so much because I hadn't played much FPS in a few years. I was mostly playing strategy games. While there is always a lot of hype surrounding new game releases, the fact is you can only change so much in a game from release to release. When you play a lot of games, they become dull and repetitive.

i agree that FPS are really boring at this point. by the time quake 2 came out i was tired of the genre (of course, i was always a big adventure game fan)
it seems like they are just sticking with a formula that works. graphics mean nothing to me...i want a good game.

And I didn't say MP2 sucks, I'm just saying it gets BORING and if you say BORING = SUCK, then the game SUCKS. But not in my opinion, only in yours.

Idiot, games aren't made by single people. He could probably make a storyline way better though. It's not hard if you can think for yourself, sit at a computer for an hour, and type.

You see, the whole thing from american games/movies this day and age is to find a good Japanese movie (Ring, Avalon, etc.), and some good anime with a lot of action, copy it into English, make some new looking badguys, but copy the stories, and you have a great new product that will make the US gamers rave for weeks!
