Did all you guys forget how nvidia hyped up the gtx980 launch with their world wide tremendously long super event?

It was a huge hype up party.

I think AMD is really doing something smart here. This event can be used to catapult the 390x. I really like the direction. And god knows we all have waited so freaking long, I can't wait to!!!!

PC Gamer must be trying to become relevant again. I was a long time subscriber who used to wait eagerly every month for my copy in the mail with the demo disk inside.

Lately it has seemed that it has basically turned into a mouthpiece for the gaming industry. I mean they even gave DA2 and ME3 90+ ratings.

Good for them. Hopefully they knock it out of the park and PC gaming can continue to have a presence at E3.

In a news flash AMD announced that an event sponsored by AMD, PC Gamer, Twitch and more PC gaming will take center stage at E3 2015. As the PC gaming platform will get its own first conference.

There's never been a better time to play games on PC. Gaming-capable hardware is inexpensive, digital distribution has given us unprecedented access to a huge range of games, and publishers have finally recognized that reports of its demise as a viable platform were ludicrously exaggerated. And soon the PC will have its own celebratory event during E3 week, with the first-ever PC Gaming Show. Sponsored by PC Gamer, AMD, Twitch, Bohemia Interactive, Tripwire and Digital Storm. They tease: "PC gaming is in a golden age, with more powerful and affordable hardware than ever before, thousands of games available through Steam, Origin and other platforms, and millions of viewers regularly watching esports online. Now, for the first time, the PC platform will have its own event during E3, where the community will be able to celebrate this era with some of the biggest names in PC gaming and see the innovations that lie ahead".

AMD's Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Computing and Graphics, Matt Skynner, said: "The PC Gaming Show embodies the spirit of innovation, openness and community that's part of our DNA-delivered by gamers, for gamers. The time is right for a PC-focused event in the week of E3 and we're honored to be part of bringing the industry together".

There will be some big names at the PC Gaming Show, with the following already confirmed: AMD, Blizzard Entertainment, Bohemia Interactive, Cliff "CliffyB" Bleszinski, Cloud Imperium Games, Dean Hall, Devolver, Humble Bumble, Heart Machine, Paradox Interactive, Square Enix and Tripwire Interactive.

I doubt AMD would be doing this to not announce or promote anything. :D

AMD really needs to put on a good show with the R9 3xx series cards. I expect AMD to have Freesync Eyefinity drivers ready atleast by the time of this event. AMD better deliver top notch drivers for this R9 390X beast. :D I expect AMD to come out swinging hard. They need to gain back the lost market share in H2 2015.

Not really. Consoles are $350-400. A custom built PC that can do what a console can do graphics and framerate wise is not going to cost much more than that. The difference is that you can't buy a $1000 console that runs much higher quality graphics at 1080p@60fps.

My statement was more about the price of a decent gpu these days. Seems like anything with some lasting power costs at least as much as a console if not more. Guess a person could go to the used market to save some $'s.

Targeting console specs to build a gaming PC seems like a silly idea to me. I guess you'd have more options as far as gaming goes. Just wouldn't have enough grunt to really enjoy it in the end at least for me anyways. To each his own I guess.

Current target price of a Xbox One is only $350 without Kinect and incudes a game. Best Buy even has a deal that includes a $50 gift card with purchase Offer valid 4/29/15 – 5/27/15.....Maybe subscription only? Got a email the other day with the single use coupon code. Not advertised on their site it looks like.

I think you are mixing GTX 980 with R9 285 and Nvidia with AMD...

"Hi my name is Josh and I just love AMD. They are the best"
That pretty much sums up the entire show

Wow. What short memories

It was called Game24. A huge massive world wide gaming event to celebrate PC gaming.

http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2014/09/18/game24/

http://www.anandtech.com/show/8473/nvidia-announces-game24-a-24-hour-live-event

The whole event was to roll out the red carpet for Maxwell 2.0 and the GM204. It was to created massive hype and buzz.

AMD did host an event prior to Game24, it was their 30yrs of gaming celebration/anniversary. But I suppose that this next event will be much more like Nvidia's game24, were the real purpose is to roll out the 390x with an extremely large and hyped up party.

Whats wrong with hyping up an event if they show a product that live up to the hype?
R9 285 certainly didnt. Maxwell did. Thats the difference.

I would not call AMD`s upcoming show bad if the 390X is good. This time they seem to have lots of stuff to show

I think you got me confused.

There is nothing wrong with it at all. I think it is awesome.

I think it is much better than announcing the 390x as a me too in some other event. I really like the idea. And to me, it hints to the 390x being way more special............

I hope this is how the reveal the 390x. After all this time, we need a huge splash
