There's never been a better time to play games on PC. Gaming-capable hardware is inexpensive, digital distribution has given us unprecedented access to a huge range of games, and publishers have finally recognized that reports of its demise as a viable platform were ludicrously exaggerated. And soon the PC will have its own celebratory event during E3 week, with the first-ever PC Gaming Show, presented by AMD and put together by, well, us.
"The PC Gaming Show embodies the spirit of innovation, openness and community that's part of our DNA—delivered by gamers, for gamers," AMD Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Computing and Graphics Matt Skynner said. "The time is right for a PC-focused event in the week of E3 and we're honored to be part of bringing the industry together."
Hosted by Sean "Day[9]" Plott, the PC Gaming Show at E3 will feature appearances by Dean Hall of DayZ fame, Cliff Bleszinski of Boss Key Productions, and developers from studios including Blizzard, Bohemia Interactive, Cloud Imperium Games, Tripwire Interactive, Square Enix, Obsidian, Paradox, Devolver Digital and the Humble Bundlers, with more to be announced.
"We’re living in a golden age of PC gaming, but unlike other platforms the PC has no format holder, no marketing department, and—until now—no event during E3 week purely devoted to it," added Tim Clark, global editor-in-chief at PC Gamer. "We think a show like this, which brings together people from every corner of PC gaming to celebrate the exciting things happening, is long overdue. We hope you’ll join us, in person or on stream, to be part of it."
The PC Gaming Show will take place on June 16 at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, and will of course be livestreamed on Twitch. Find out more at PCGamingShow.com.

This will either be the coolest thing since the unveiling of the first Crysis or the most embarrassing disaster since Watch Dogs.

There is no middle ground possible here.

It is a PC gaming show so it will be mostly about New Techs and of course Graphics.

It makes perfectly logical sense - AMD powers the WiiU, Xbone, PS4, and PC. It's a great move, especially if AMD nails the Computex launch, then they can ride the hype train for another week but at an extremely visible trade show focused on gaming - rather than just general technology. Smart.

Why can't tomorrow be June 1 instead of May 1?

So this is where 390X reveal finally will go down?

Computex is 2 weeks before this. So could be either I would think. But an announcement at Computex, and then lots of media about it at E3 would work well for them.

Isn't it one week after Computex? AMD might show off the 300 series at E3 as well

My guess is reveal and demo 390X and new tech features to the Computex crowd (more technologically oriented) and make the bean counters happy. Then a week later showcase what all that means to games and gamers. It's an excellent strategy to get maximum coverage and hype from tech and gaming outlets.

Why would any company choose to reveal hardware during a software expo a week after one of the biggest hardware events of the year?

AMD might pimp the 300 series during E3, but the reveal should happen during Computex by any sane standards.

As an aside, if this works out well, it would be the single best piece of marketing AMD did for its GPU branch since forever.

Well Fudzilla said it would be after Computex so I guess the E3 reveal seems correct

To not drown the 390X announcement with a thousands of other gizmo`s being announced at the same time maybe? Isnt E3 mostly about games and software anyway?
Maybe AMD want to present 390X at the same time Microsoft and devs presents DX12 and the games to make it more appealing?

Hopefully MS gets in with some cash and make the show awesome. Since PC gaming is pretty much a MS thing.

Well they did lie about the inexpensive part :)

Not really. Consoles are $350-400. A custom built PC that can do what a console can do graphics and framerate wise is not going to cost much more than that. The difference is that you can't buy a $1000 console that runs much higher quality graphics at 1080p@60fps.

They might not actually "reveal". Perhaps they will display Games on a mystery video card at various Resolutions and/or screen configurations.

Consoles are hardware and are revealed at e3 constantly. This might actually elevate PC gaming to the console crowd. Teh eye-candy will make their ps4s look like snes.

I don't know, an E3 announcement actually might make more sense if you're trying to get more mass market awareness, which AMD needs when you consider the average joe buying a video card to play counter strike just grabs a Geforce 960 or whatever budget card NVIDIA has on the market.
