I had a heck of a time getting Crysis 2 to work after buying it for $10 from Amazon. The game worked at first. I played the first few levels. But when I tried to install the hi-res and dx11 packs, they just wouldn't register in the game. Once I uninstalled and reinstalled to try to get it to work, the game broke - it wouldn't load at all.

You can read about the problems on HardOCP - I was surprised more people weren't complaining about it on AT.

I'll probably pick up Dead Space 2. Already have DA:O Ultimate, gonna wait for a cheap DA2 Ultimate in the future.
 
Wow, some nice deals coming up next week. May have to jump on Alice and Crysis 2, even if they don't activate on Steam.
 
I haven't followed the prices of DA:O or DA2. I was kinda hoping Steam would put them on sale during the Holiday Sales.

That price seems hot to me and screaming hot after the promo code (which I don't have).
 
Am I missing something or what holiday are they celebrating next week? I don't think I've ever seen a Martin Luther King Day sale.

I'm also going to wait until the 21st and grab Crysis2, but thanks for this! For those too lazy to read that thread, here are instructions to get the most out of the patches:

Step 2: Download the 1.9 patch manually (I used this link) and install it.
Step 3: Start the game and enter your 20 digit code. Start a campaign and the immediately save and quit.

Step 5: Install DX11 Tessellation pack. Start a campaign and then immediately save and quit.
Step 6: Restart your computer.
Step 7: Install High-Res Texture pack.
Step 8: Restart your computer.
Step 9: Start game, select the "Ultra" option in the graphics settings menu. Select "Yes" for high-res textures in the advanced games menu.

Oh, no, you di'nt! I'm not even sure I should be quoting that joke...

To answer your question, the "holiday sale" was in Nov/Dec, and people who bought games then got a $5 coupon to use in January on top-selling downloads. So it's not really a hot deal unless you got in on it a month ago...
 
you know you waste to much time when i look a this list and i Have them all except the basketball one. Prices make um pretty tempting but

Bulletstorm
COH
Bioshock
Deadspace2 are the standout ones..

guilty pleasure- mindless non stop easy combat Stranglehold, darksiders and Section 8 where ones I enjoyed

Showing out of stock ATM but Amazon pmed the Steam deal on Dead Space 2. You can use the $5 credit on the game, which makes it $0.
 
So what is the $5.00 amazon code of which you all speak? Is it something I would have needed to have already or can I get/use it from somewhere?
 
Can you Steam the Dead Space 2? I have the retail already but I do have a coupon so if you can Steam it, I'll definitely grab it for $0!

No. I used the coupon to get the DS2 for free, then tried to add the key to Steam and it won't accept it....

Still - free is free!:biggrin:
