PC equivalent to MAC final cut pro would be ??

Hi all, I'm going to invest some time learning video editing software for personal projects. I only own a PC ,but I want to learn the best program available , so going mac just to learn this s/w isnt an option. whats the top pc video editing sw, thanks

Not sure if it's the "best", but Virtual Dub is excellent and open-source to boot. To be honest I'd have to see a mac in action to believe it's any better/faster than a PC running this wonderful & free program. I think it's an old stereotype which may have been true at one point but probably no longer is.

It's difficult to say what the best is - Vegas Video, Premiere are good as is Virtual Dub. A lot of it comes down to preference, do you want to use A/B editing or Single Track Editing (a la Final Cut?)

A/B is probably easier to pick up.

Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effect are the standard for the industry. You can also try Vegas Video, Avid Xpress DV and Avid Xpress Pro

I think i'll look for a demo of vegas or see if I can use someone's avid on their system and see how it looks. I notice they have many classes on the avid in my area, but the SW is soo expensive LOL but hey I guess you get what you pay for , thanks for the info guys
