Hi! It seems that my old system (Q6600, 9800GT, 2gb ram) is dying on me...So I guess it's time to move on. I have made a first try on a build, and I hope you can help me improve it.

Few notes:
- Used for gaming, don't mind if it's mid or high settings. Not graphics freak.
- Using a 22" screen
- Prefer to have a powerful, silent and fast system for multitasking
- Similar above, but I prefer to invest in everything but the graphics card. I much prefer to have the 'best' all around, and eventually in a couple of years if I find I need a graphics upgrade, I'll do so. I don't need so much power right now!
- Limited budget
- Own preference to use nvidia and intel

Build:
Intel Core i5 4670 Haswell 3.4Ghz 6MB L3 Cache s1150 - Box
Arctic Freezer 13 CPU FAN
Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H LGA1150, Intel H87, DDR3 1600, 2xPCI-E, VGA, DVI, HDMI
Gigabyte GTX650 Ti OC 2GB GDDR5 DX11 2xDVI HDMI PCI-E
Corsair VS550 550W Series Active PFC 12cm Fan PSU
CoolerMaster N300 Mid Tower ATX Black Case No PSU
Zalman ZM-F3 120mm Silent Case Fan

Would it be smarter to invest in a better CPU? More RAM? I'm still no a limited budget I'm afraid.

NOTICE - PC builders, when asking for input on YOUR projects Please Tell us...

1. What YOUR PC will be used for.
gaming, don't mind if it's mid or high settings
can you clarify what types of games you play

2. What YOUR budget is (in your local currency please)
???

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
???

5. IF YOU have a brand preference.
NVIDIA & Intel

6. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
Monitor. What about other peripherals, optical drive, hard disks?

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
???

8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using?
???

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
ASAP?

X. Do you need to purchase any software to go with the system, such as Windows or Blu Ray playback software?
???

Can you also clarify whether you're looking for a silent system (= no noise) or a quiet system (= low noise) or just a normal system that isn't particularly noisy?

I'n sorry, i thought I gave all the information. Not planning to buy any hd as i already have, and dont care about a burner, a cheap one.

I dont have a budget, but i lrefer to get the best bang for the buck, and/or a smart buy ( as i said, i dont need much power right now except for a fast system, even my dying 9800 is enought, so it seems smart to buy a powerful overall components) but a range will be around 1000-1150 USD, or 700-900 euros.

Dont need a software of any kind

Im buying the components from israel!

Am playing mostly football manager, fifa, gw2 and most of the popular games (cod,bf,tom clansy,ac,crysis) i play and played em all, but im going to limit myself to less games.

Asap, yep!
And looking for noisy;)

You already have a very good CPU relative to the gpu. If you have nore money available you should put it toward s stronger gpu. AMD has some very good prices on the 7 series cards right now. I see you prefer nVidia, but except for the extreme high end, AMD IMO offers better performance for the price right now, unless you really want physX.

Yup, i know i have a decent pc, but the rest is awful. Except the fact my pc was extremely slow, i was satesfied with gaming. So i really dont need a better components!
However, pc half died really, which is the only reason i decided to upgrade. And my ram is slow, my motherboard is an old gigabye p35 chip, etc... Really an old system. I used it for 6 years. I want to wake up 6 years from now and to recieve the same answer you did, that i have a strong enough cpu. Im trying to build a system that will a) last for so long b) i dont need power now. But in the years to come i might. So a gfx upgrade will get me back to buisness!

What are the symptoms that tell you the PC is "dying on you"?

You may be experiencing slowness not because of slow hardware, but because of bloated OS installation with lots of unnecessary processes, not enough RAM available leading to increased use of the slow paging file, not enough free disk space on the OS drive, among other possibilities.

Apart from that, the biggest bottleneck in your system is storage speed - just reinstalling the OS on an SSD would massively improve responsiveness and perceived speed of the system. You didn't even list an SSD among your suggested build, but given the fact that you don't need particularly good graphics and you have a pretty decent budget, you definitely should get an SSD. E.g. Samsung 840 EVO.

Is there a particular web shop you're buying from?

buying it from a shop in israel im afraid. My gpu died( tons of bsod and artifacts untill my pc shut down in the morning and my current pc wont turn on.( nothing to do with heating!) Completely doesnt react. Im without pc atm.

** edit due to huge artifacts i had with my gfx i baked it by instructions and tried to install it back. My pc then didnt react and wont turn on, like dead.
I removed the gpu, and the pc reacts! Can a dead / faulty card really do such thing?

Seen that my system does work, and looks like i damaged my card... Keeping my q6600 sounds tasty. I have a p35 gigabyte motherboard. Will ddr3 memory fit that motherboard and cpu? Or i need to buy a new motherboard?

There are DDR3 P45 motherboards that will accept your Q6600, but I don't think that you should be putting money into an LGA 775 platform at this point.

Anyway, your original build is off to a good start, but the GPU is very underpowered relative to your CPU. I would invert the price relationship, i.e. get an AMD FX-6300 and a 7950/GTX 660 Ti.

Finally, can you provide some sort of price list from your local shop? It is really hard to give specific advice without knowing what is available to you at what price.
