Motherboard: MSI Z87-GD65
CPU: i5 4670k
GPU: MSI GTX 770

Brand new build, displays no video at all. The motherboard displays no debug codes. I've tried the below things, all to no avail.

  • Removing the GPU and trying integrated
  • Booting with one RAM stick at a time
  • Removing all peripherals and front panel connectors, leaving only the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and cooler and using the on-board buttons
  • Flipping to the other BIOS

This is also the replacement motherboard I got after RMAing the original. That one was literally smoking from the chipset heatsink. Not sure whether this one's defective too or if it could be the CPU or RAM.

Just tried that, no luck. I also tried turning it on with no RAM. Still no error code.

Might just RMA both of them and see what Newegg thinks when they receive them.

Yep, either a dead motherboard and/or chip.

I know this is a stupid question, but you did plug in the 8 pin processor plug? LOL, I have seen this happen.

also, I am assuming that is a liquid water block on the CPU? If so, back off each mounting screw about a 1/4 turn and try it again.

What power supply?

I might just call Newegg (as opposed to their online RMA) and see if they will let you swap it for another board, as it's been two in a row.

Running without RAM should give you a code, and if there was a short, generally the power supply protection would kick in and not power anything for more than a split second.

SeaSonic SSR-650RM - I'll use a PSU tester on it tonight.
