Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Abit IP35-E
Kingston DDR 2 800 2GB
Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 or 9600GSO or 9600GT or 8800GT.
Liteon LH20A1L06
Western Digital SATA II 500GB
Dell SP2208WFP
Coolermaster 330 Elite with Cooler Master Extreme Power 600W
Altec Lansing VS4121

This is the specs on the PC that i plan to assemble. I plan to use it for gaming. Please let me know your views on the config.and suggest any changes you think is necessary.

the 9600gso has 364mb of ram onboard. do you think its enough to render games on the 22" monitor?

also, please suggest a very good mobo-gfx card combo.

also, at the present scenario, do you think an amd or intel machine will be better?

thank you.

The motherboard you linked him to is the P5Q, but I assume that's what you meant.

Like he said, I'd get the 4850, but even an 8800GT is still solid if you find a killer deal. I'd also go with 4GB of RAM instead of 2GB. As cheap as RAM is, there's little reason not to, and there is a performance increase in some games. That trend is likely to continue.

Lastly, I'd get the WD 640 GB Caviar...should be a little faster and will have more space, and it's less than $100.

Otherwise, it's pretty much standard.

you're definately going to want the 4850 over those cards and might want to look into some G.Skill 4gb of ram.
look into the latest Gigabyte P45 motherboards. they are very stable and overclock really well. everything else looks fine

thank you very much for the reply guys. does any mobo you mentioned have onboard wifi?

an you come up with a solid mobo. all of you have a different opinion. can you please explain whats good abt each of 'em?

and doesn't 4850 have heating problems? i was hping to go with a XFX(nvidia) powered gfx card cause it has the best warranty. though i am not going to oc, i still want to be on the safe side.

but thank you all for your views.

Actually, it doesn't have any problem heating up at all. ;)
