Getting back to this thread I have a few more questions about specific games:

Can anyone elaborate on (PC) Resident Evil 5's co-op? If we could both play through the story together on LAN that would be cool but I'm guessing that's not how it is.

The Scourge Project looks interesting, anyone else like it?

Does Splinter Cell: Conviction have a co-op campaign you can play over LAN?

Modern Warfare 2 sounds like it has good co-op but holy hell it's expensive.

Resident evil works through the Games for Windows Live service. It's been a while so I'm not sure if there is a lan option. I had issues with my connection so I could never really play more than 5 minutes at a time. It was pretty annoying. I think it's a packet loss issue. It wouldn't be too bad if I could rejoin but the game doesn't have a drop in/drop out function. So if one person disconnects someone has to recreate a game. Otherwise the game looks damn good on pc. Seems like fun if you can get multiplayer working stably.

edit: I just checked and you can only do local or a game via live

edit2: Another pretty good coop game is laura croft and the guardian of light. Keyboard controls kind of blow though.

RE5 is 2 people whether you play co-op or not so the co-op mode is the main storyline. great for co-op play.

I want to say that Conviction does have a co-op campaign mode but I think it's different than the SP campaign. but as i mentioned before, the cop-op is really poorly optimized or something.

Haven't done conviction over lan, but Splinter Cell Chaos Theory has a dedicated mode for Co-op, and its absolutely killer. Lots of dual moves, the levels are based around having two people. Very very fun.

Resident Evil 5 is great. I'd also recommend Rainbow Six Raven Shield, Vegas, Vegas 2, and the entire Ghost Recon Series.

For something a little different: Hearts of Iron 2 or 3. Look it up, its semi sorta RTS'y, but its turn based, and absolutely massive in scale. excellent.

You know, that said... Is anyone interested in forming an AT Co-op group? Just start playing a bunch of 4-20 player games for coop? We have a pretty solid list, especially if you include RTS's, and do something like once a week or something. Could be awesome!

Just a heads up but there's a 15% off code for direct2drive which drops the price of magicka down to $8.50. Code is snowblows.

You can also sign up for their referral program and send yourself a referral code which is good for 20% off. That involves more work though.

Come play!
