1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

General net surfing, playing music, running squeeze boxes. No gaming. No blu ray watching.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

I have monitor, case, and cd drives already. Budget for the rest in the 500 to 750 range.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

USA

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

No preference.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

Case, CD Drives, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Nope

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Default

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.

No gaming.

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?

ASAP

Here is what I'm looking at:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-2GBNQ

Intel Core i3-540 Clarkdale 3.06GHz LGA 1156 73W Dual-Core Desktop Processor BX80616I3540
GIGABYTE GA-H55M-USB3 LGA 1156 Intel H55 HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Subtotal: $436.95

My only question is I have a 5 year old Lian Li Mid Tower case that I will be using.

Will that be compatible with the Micro ATX mobo?

Thanks much.

If that's all you need, you should stay well under budget.

AMD Athlon II x4 635 & 4GB GSkill DDR3 Ripjaws $177

MSI 880GM-E43 $80

Antec 380W Earthwatts PSU $51

1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 $60 w/ coupon "HIGH5"

And probably Windows7 for $100.

And that's about it for $460 shipped. Integrated video will more than do the job for you. And you likely don't really need a quadcore or 4GB of RAM and could use a lower rated PSU, but you're really not paying that much more while you do get a lot more out of these components.

 A 650W PSU is complete overkill for a non-gaming system.

Could you recommend a mobo with integrated video and USB 3?

I might have a need for USB 3.0 at some point due to possibly using this machine for golf instruction down the road.

Why the WD Blue instead of the F3? The F3 is cheaper than the Blue at SuperBiiz. Even if you don't want to order from multiple places, $5 for a faster 1TB drive is well worth it IMHO.
