Dear all, i have some problems during boot up. when i power up the system, the hdd light is stay solid and the pc won't boot up. i need to press the reset couple times until it is willing to boot up.

I have asus a7n8x with athlon xp 2500+ and oc to 3200+ with Geil pc3200 512mb ram at 200mhz. i just have the 9600xt video card in it. what problems might cause this boot up problem??

need your advises. thanks

If this has started happening recently and without any changes made to your hardware, check the mobo lithium cell. If thats OK , check your mobo capacitors. If some are puffed up, most probably your mobo will have to be sent to the service bench.

it started to happen after 1 month when the system was built. It needs to press the reset couple times, then it's willing to boot and then running without any problem....just have problem when i power up the system.

If i turn the system off and turn it back on with about 10 mins....it's acting normal. but if i let it sit there for almost an hour or so...then the problem will start to appear again....just need to press reset...

thanks

I had that problem with my XP2500+ on a modded NF7-S. I had to up my VCore an extra notch to get it to boot every single time on the first try.

try with a new power supply. If still the same, most probably your mobo BIOS is flipped. Send it back and claim your warranty.

If the problem only occurs when the system is cold (been off for more than 20mins or so) and you get no video display at all, no beeps, just power and hard disc lights - I'd suspect PSU or motherboard.

If you get video display, then I'd suspect the hard disc. Disconnect the hard disc and try booting from either CD or Floppy.
