Hey guys I was just wondering will PC 133 SDRAM work with a P III 450Mhz that runs its FSB at 100Mhz? I am buying some RAM off a site on the net and they 'assured' me it would work as the PC 133 SDRAM is backwards compatible! I wasn't so sure so can anyone help me out??

Thanx :)

Cheers Slim, I wasn't sure about it at all! Its great that I can come here and ask u guys about this kinda stuff and get some honest answers! I assume the 133 SDRAM will then run at the lower speed of 100Mhz, right?? I'm not bothered about the performance drop I just want to know it will work before I go dishing out the cash :)

It's backwards compatible, it'll run on a 100MHz memory bus if you wish

Would your P3-450 have S-Spec code SL35D? If so it's really a P3-600. Chances are you can put that PC133 to good use by bumping your system from 4.5 x 100 to 4.5 x 133.

I'm not sure what u mean by 'S-Spec code SL35D'. I do know the machine is about 2 years old now and I got it off Gateway! Please forgive me for doing that but I wasn't into PC's then and didn't know how to build my own one :)I assume most of u in here build your own dream machines! Is there any way I can find out if I have the S-Spec code! That would be wicked if it actually was a 600Mhz darling :)

I have a PII350 and I use PC133 RAM. it just runs at 100MHZ. So i guess you should be fine.
