I made a post about 2 weeks ago complaining about how someone had a dispute on a package that was sent out internationally. The results finally came in, I LOST! I don't know what I should do. I provided every single bit of information to win the case, but they claimed that USPS is not a valid form of tracking according to blah blah blah in their user agreement.

According to USPS the package is abroad in Brazil, which completely proves that it was sent out there. Maybe it's lost? Maybe it just hasn't been delivered? All I know is that this is a load of BS. Buyer did not buy insurance which is completely rested on his shoulder and not on mine, it's optional and cost more to purchase insurance via ebay.

I am now out $200 and lots of frustration.

Insurance is for the seller, not the buyer. you're out $200 because of your own goddamn stupidity.

You should never use paypal or ebay inless your prepared for this to happen.

Insurance is for the seller, not the buyer. you're out $200 because of your own goddamn stupidity.

Pontifex is correct.

It is your responsibility to make sure the package arrives. Once the buyer has paid for the item he shouldn't have to pay to gaurantee that he actually receives the item.

Paypal has always demanded proof of delivery, not proof of shipment. If you can't prove that it was delivered then you will lose.

No, actually if you follow PayPal's rules, you'll never have this happen.

The OP lost because PayPal's Seller Protection Policy does not cover packages shipped to, or items paid from, international locations.

The item was delivered just fine. The buyer knows PayPal's policies better than the OP does, and took advantage of it.

Just a simple word of warning for all PayPal/eBay users: STICK TO DOMESTIC TRANSACTIONS.

I never sell on e-Bay, but do a considerable amount of buying/selling here at FS/FT & other forums.
I will insure any item I wouldn't want to pay to replace.
Most e-Bayers will try to charge extra for insurance, and if I thought it wise, I will pay the small extra fee for it rather than risk a hassle, but in the end, it is the sellers responsibility to get the item to the buyer, in working condition! Period.

What would insurance on $200 cost? $2- $3? Less than a Frappuccino(sp) or a Big Mac!
Signature Confirmation is even less: $1.90!
Personally, I would have sprung for the couple of dollars.

BTW, I don't see how you're out $200. At most, you're out the cost of the item ($80) + your S&H charges ($40), give or take a few dollars.

edit: PayPal's Seller "Protection" Policy actually covers transactions that occur between a US, UK or Canadian buyer and a US, UK or Canadian seller. Of course, the point is moot in this situation.

I had USPS tracking to a military base + insurance....the shipper sent me bad goods which I shipped back...USPS had no record of the package leaving my city only that I dropped it off at the carrier and the receiver (the original shipper) was not responding.

I made a claim through USPS and they said since they have no record of the package leaving the carrier they couldn't pay the claim???....I went to paypal, the same. My CC company, the same.

Went back to the post office and 5 months later they now state since the package was delivered to the addressee 4 days after I shipped it, they are not responsible. Paypal and my CC company say it's been too long.

I am out about $200, more if you count the sender has the damaged goods they will resell.

None of this would have made a difference.

Even if the OP insured the item, USPS delivered it, so no claim would have been granted.

Even if a signature was on file, the international buyer could have still issued a chargeback.

The issue wasn't how the item was shipped; it was where the item was shipped to.

I'm not saying all international buyers are bad; I'm simply saying all international transactions through PayPal are not protected by PayPal's policies. Domestic transactions are.

The first thing I would recommend all eBay sellers do is adjust their eBay/PayPal options to prohibit bids from international bidders, and block payments from international accounts.
