hmm, how can you love their service if you withdraw payment from their so-called "bank" right away.

Also, if most of the transactions are under $100, you'll hardly ever have a problem. However if your transactions are over $1000, PayPal will do every trick in the world to keep your money. Here is a small example.

I had over 350 transactions in my history with verified members. One of the payments I received (around $150) was from fraudelent funds. Guess what PayPal does? They restrict my account, leaving over $2000 there. They asked me to fax them copy of my Driver's Licence, Credit Card statement and utility bill (i'm surprised they haven't asked me whom I'm dating and what I'm doing on my free time). In any case, I fax the documents and two weeks later my account is still restricted.

I call them to ask what's up, and their response is: "send us an email". As we all know here, there is no such thing as email response from PayPal. Without too many choices, I write them email. One week goes by, another week goes by, no response whatsoever. I call them again. "We're sorry, but there is nothing we can do over the phone, you need to email our customer service department." WTF??? How can I email to the company where nobody ever responds to email messages. On top of that, and as of today, I still have $2000 stuck there and at this point I don't even know if I'll ever get them back.

How in the world can I respect the company which treats its customers so poorly by giving endless run around. Their so-called "buyer and seller protections" don't offer you anything more than the regular Money Order and if you'll ever have a problem with them, you'll definitely think twice before using their horrible service again.

andrey: why in god's name would you ever leave $2000 in your PayPal account. I withdraw every cent the minute I get it.

I'm also one of those who has never had any problems w/ PayPal.

>I wish I didn't hate class action lawyers so much; it's cutting in to my joy at seeing this dot.bomb getting popped.

Plan on shorting this one? I called my broker the other day. He said it becomes marginable 30 days after IPO (March 20, 2002). I think Id go long though - or maybe take both sides and catch the seesaw.

I've never had a problem either, but with all the hell stories i read, i never leave a cent in that account.

[Vegetation:] "What some people here don't realize is that if paypal goes under, ebay sellers will face their worst nightmare: complete monopoly of the online auction system by ebay."

And why would that be? Last I checked, there was a service called Yahoo PayDirect and even Ecount.com.

[NuclearFusi0n1:] "Yahoo! PayDirect is a similar service. It is fee free, but they'll put fees in place as soon as more people join[.]"

Actually, NuclearFusi0n1, they have already begun charging for transactions. Here's the fee schedule:

Pricing Tier-----------------Fee Rate Fee ------ for a $100 transaction---Minimum usage level to qualify
PayDirect Standard-------2.5% + $.30-------------$2.80 ----------------------------None
PayDirect Preferred-------2.2% + $.30 ------------$2.50 -----------------------Find out more

"Who pays the transaction fee?

When you send money from Yahoo! PayDirect ( http://paydirect.yahoo.com/ ), you can choose whether you, as the sender, will pay the transaction fee or you want the receiver to pay the fee.
When you request money or send a bill, you as the requester will always pay the fee when you receive the money.
When you attach money as part of a Yahoo! Greeting ( http://greetings.yahoo.com/ ), you, as the sender, will always pay the transaction fee.
When you use Yahoo! PayDirect on a mobile phone, the receiver will pay the transaction fee"
