Paypal Scams

There have been quite a number of threads here about people losing money from either their paypal account or their bank account linked to their paypal account. If this has happened to you I was wondering if you ever determined how it happened? For example did someone guess your password or did you fall for one of those spoofed paypal emails?

I actually paid a vendor once. Instead of drawing funds from a CC, PayPal drew from my bank. I disputed the draft, got all my money back from the bank and got the merchandise from the vendor.

I am very leery as to the way their operations work.

Would that purchase have put you over your credit limit? Just wondering if there was any reason why they took the money from your bank account instead.

With almost no response to this thread is it safe to conclude that either almost everyone who has lost money through paypal has no idea how it happened or only cares about getting it back and not preventing further loss in the future?

I had a $1000 credit limit. I dont know what happened, all I do know is that I inadvertently ripped someone off. Lord knows what can happen when people put their mind to it.

Looking through various threads on the subject it seems that the only preventative measure people have taken is too stop using the service or keep little or no money in their account.
