I sold an item on ebay for a bit over $200 it ended on the 10th. The ebay account has 0 feedback, and was registered last month. The guy never emails me/responds to my email (sent 2 invoices, and 1 contact buyer email). The guy finally pays today with paypal, but it says "(The sender of this payment is Unregistered)" under the payment details, and the Payment Type: is "instant".

What can I do to help reduce the chance of getting a chargeback or something if this guy decides to scam me? Obviously I am going to get tracking# on it and insurance, will probably use Fedex or DHL. And maybe also signature required? What else can I do?

The Shipping address is confirmed, and it is "Seller protection policy eligible" which says I must do this:
* Have a Verified Business or Premier account
* Ship to the address on the Transaction Details page
* Provide timely shipment
* Retain reasonable proof of delivery that can be tracked online
* Ship tangible goods
All of that seems good for me. Am I just being over cautious?

You are fine. PayPal no longer requires registration for eBay payments with a credit card.

As long as you ship it to the confirmed address, you are protected.

I had the same thing happen to me. The buyer had a U.S. address, but I googled it and it turned out to be a freight forwarding type company in Miami. I contacted Ebay and they said they would refund the fees... so we will see.

If you send it.. make sure you clean out the paypal account and don't plan on using it for a while.

I wish ebay would allow you to block buyers with 0 feedback, I have the negative ones and other countries blocked, but everytime I see someone bidding with 0 feedback I get a bit nervous and wish someone would outbid them.

I've read that paypal can debit your bank account if you dont have the money in your paypal account, is this still true?

You'll be OK. It is no longer a requirement to have PP account in order to pay for auctions that require PP payment.
