Sent Lowtax a little tutorial on how to exploit media sensationalism to extract $20,000USD from Paypal for fun and profit.

I don't care how deplorable SA is, I don't care whether they should be collecting donations or not - all I care is that Paypal sucks a goat's nut and has $20,000 that was intended for charitable purposes that doesn't belong to them.

We all bombard paypal with emails and complaints and phone calls about this garbage until they release the funds. They could have spent a few hours and investigated the 'suspicious activity' and found that the funds were legitimate. Look at all the other companies who are donating time and resources to the hurricane victims, and Paypal finds it necessary to block any help they could have given.

I say we clog every communications channel they have until they release it. WHO'S WITH ME?

My way is more damaging. What you're suggesting is something Paypal has experienced before and is WELL prepared for.

Wish GooglePay or whatever it is going to be called would get implemented already.

Knowing Google, I wouldn't be surprised if they're waiting on an application for FDIC insurance.

Spread the word far and wide. Let it be known on the hills and in the valleys. Let no blogger blog without blogging about this atrocity. Let the world know that paypal steals from the helpless, the poor, the down trodden. Do not rest, good citizens of the internet, until the world knows of the ruthless looting and pillaging of this beast, Paypal. Go forth and spread the word. Cry your anguished cry. Blog your wrathful blog. Post your flaming post. Do not stop. Do not tire. Do not give this robber barron a chance to steal from one more hungry child. Do not let it steal from one more hungry family. Do not let this reteched maggot steal our humanity. Do not let this awful blight take away the goodwill of men.

No my friends, we will let all know the the evil that lurks in the heart of Paypal. We will crush it.

Want to fill us in on the gory details?

Call local news. They'll pee their pants in glee, get some soundbytes, call Paypal, get no answer, record promos saying something sensational like "PAYPAL STEALS MONEY FROM HURRICANE VICTIMS, MORE AT 11" - and put the story on in the last 60 seconds of their broadcast. Within 24 hours, they will have offered this film other stations in the network. The network news will spot it, record their own soundbytes, call Paypal a few more times, make their own sensationalist promos, and air it somewhere in the middle. The cable news networks will spot this within 30 minutes and begin the process anew - and not let go until either Paypal gives up the money or the hurricane issue has been beat to death.

If Paypal doesn't give it up - 48 hours and Dateline and those other "television news magazines" will, approximately 9 months after the fact, dig this and every other Paypal complaint they can even tentatively verify and completely tear into the Paypal/eBay organization. If it escalates past the local news level, the amount of lost business will exceed $20k anyway.
