Paypal account got hacked. Wtf.

First off: Not even sure how the hell this happened. I've never even gone to a fake Paypal website before. So, how someone got into my account is beyond me. Password is too long and complicated to be guessed.

I don't even know...

But now my account is frozen and there's like 15 new transactions all within the last hour or something.

Someone scammed people out of $45.00 each (I can only assume) then sent it all over to Mojang AB.

Weird part is that they started draining money from my bank account but... I don't see any transactions from my bank account from the online thing.

Someone is trying to scam lots of Minecraft copies 😛.

Yeah, I got a lot of keys sent to my email inbox. I came home with 9 new emails. A lot of paypal going, "Holy shit, something went bad." Then more with like, "You've got money." Then one with lots of minecraft redemption keys.

Weird part is that my banks online banking is usually SUPER fast when it comes to putting up new transactions, so... I don't know why I don't see any of my money drained from my account? It says it is all coming from my bank in the paypal transactions.

Your computer may well be infested with several trojans. You've got more to worry about then simply your paypal account. Run a anti malware scanner like Malwarebytes and get that stuff cleaned up.

If Paypal only allowed me to see where people logged in from like gmail does... then I'd have an idea.

That sucks, I hope your bank sorts that out for you, and I hope you have identity theft protection on your card or something similar

Ugh. I'm so fucking annoyed. I was looking forward to having not much to worry about for tomorrow. Now I have this to worry about. I have too much money that cannot be lost in my account right now. I'll be trying to completely shut off that paypal account and then be seeing if I can get a new bank account number.

They might have drained over $60 from my bank account, but it doesn't show up because my fucking bank is stupid and has a shit online banking system right now.

Literally, transactions are disappearing because the bank is stupid and glitched. You can't delete transactions as a user from appearing.

Welcome to the club. Mine was hacked Christmas day last year. There's been several others.

My first question is, HAVE YOU CALLED PAYPAL CUSTOMER SERVICE YET? If you haven't then you're a fucking moron.

so.. .all that 'waaah i'm a broke student' crap is nothing but lies.

ban this lying fucktard.

Are you sure your email address associated with your paypal isn't compromised? Do you use your paypal password for any other site, or is it an obvious derivative of your "base" password (like usualpasswordPaypal)?

I had my MSN hacked a few months ago. No idea how this crap even happens. The password was quite complex too. Thankfully they did not do much, they just logged into it. Only reason I knew it happened is my client said it had been logged in from another machine, which I never do. Thing is, these things don't have brute force protection, so it could easily be bots that try all sorts of combinations. It might take years, but eventually they hit the right one and you happen to be the victim.

Ensure you put all your money into another bank account, just use that account for bills and stuff, but keep it below $1000. That's what I do. If someone did hack my paypal the most they could ever take is like $2500 counting over draft. At that point I'd be calling the bank and hopefully be able to rectify it.
