I have been playing RPG's again recently, I skipped a good three years without playing many games at all...losing all of my unmatched CS/UT/UO skills, but I have again learned the joy of playing these games!
Dragon Warrior VII - Awesome game, far too slow gameplay, but the only real complaint...Why does it give you the option to keep playing after you save? I truly hate moving from my comfy spot to reset the playstation if I accidentally say "no." I haven't completed it yet, I'm 15 hours into it and lacking severely in levels.
Terranigma - I love this game, it's about reviving the world and seeing it progress, and everything about the game is very well made and thought out. I never lost interest when playing this game.
Super Mario RPG - Simply fun, that's it.
Act Raiser 1 - A lot better than Act Raiser 2, and is sort of similar to Terranigma, only...not really, but it's great fun ressurecting the world.
Phantasy Star 3 - Best of the PS series, getting married and playing through a different story line dependant on your choices of marriage (happens twice in the game) with different endings, is great. The battle music gets on one's nerves very quickly, otherwise I believe the music is great for it.
Chrono Trigger - No one can (rather, should) argue that this isn't simply one of the best RPG's ever, if not the best.
Secret of Mana - The fighting system is really cool, the soundtrack is top-notch, graphics are very nice for the snes, and the storyline is all there, and as with Chrono Trigger can become quite emotional if you like being that way.
Final Fantasy 6 - How many other games does the evil character actually destroy and rule the world? No other FF game provides one as sinister as Kefka, Sephiroth from FF7 doesn't even come close. Not to mention, character development is very well written in this game.
Final Fantasy 4/7/9 - Classic, just classic. Seven is almost like playing a movie, or a novel, and in its own right should be made into either one (They're coming out with a Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children movie as a sequel to the game, but they really should have released FF7: The movie first).
Well, I can't think of any more, but feel free to add to the list! Sorry there aren't many ps/ps2/xbox/etc games listed
