If it turns out that today's terrorist activities were the result of state sponsored activities in Iraq or Afghanistan, what should the United States' response be?

A. a nuclear warhead
B. smart bombs/missles
C. carpet bombing
D. diplomatic meetings/sanctions
E. nothing
 
I find this thread rather Ironic. I made a thread a while ago, about Saddam Hussien, and what we should do about him, many of the options that you have given where also in my poll. My thoughts of using a nuke where quickly stomped on by many members, Now that we are at time of war, you already have 4 votes for a nuke. Make up your damn minds.
 
No nukes. Carpet bombing would produce the same results as their attack against us today. I vote for smart bombs/missiles. Also, CIA opps going in there and painfully assassinating a whole sh!t load of em.
 
Saddam did not kill thousands of AMERICAN PEOPLE. 'Nuff said.

Bomb them back to rubble...then bomb the sh!t out of the rubble!

I posted this after watching Dan Rather interview a former CIA guy. They suspected Iraq was involved in the last attack but Clinton ignored what the CIA said. This attack may have involved Bin Laden, but was so big and well planned that other backing/support was needed as well. The terrorists had to be trained on flying jumbo jets, and you can't very well do that without resources.
 
I only want the people responsible for this tragedy to be executed in a slow painful way. A bomb is too good for them. Moreover, the last thing I want is more innocent lives to be lost over this.
 
no nukes should be used. it would be the end of the world. The chain reaction of nuclear weapons going off would be catastrophic
 
why do ppl keep pushing the idea of nuking who ever did this? You don't think it could spark something we sure as hell don't want to see?
 
We are not the only one who has nuclear warheads. A few heading this way will not just destroy the US but the whole world. Bombing will kill more innocent civilians than terrorists. How many years have we been trying to get Laden? And where is he now? And I am not too sure if the CIA, FBI, or even our military is any good at ground combat.
 
I think we need to bomb whatever country or countries are housing any terrorist, no questions, bomb the airports, plants government buildings etc until complete surrender by the country. Then we set up government offices in these countries.
 
you guys are nuts. I am for bombing(NOT nukes) if any country is found to have harbored terrorists or aided them. I think a lot of covert ops are needed as well.
 
This poll is quite hilarious.

To whomever voted "Nuke", you are pathetic. That is basically inviting terrorists from all nations to unleash hell upon the US. If you think nuking one location, one city, or one country would wipe out all the terrorists reponsible for this latest attack, you are completely ignorant to the workings of independant terrorist cells.

As for the rest of the options, they would be equally uneffective. The US would find it tactically impossible to find all terrorist cells across multiple nations and bomb them.

Frankly, what is most likely going to happen in the US will arrest about a half dozen men of middle-eastern origin, they will be swiftly convicted by a vengeful American jury, and they will be sentenced to death. It doesn't matter whether they did the crime or not, Americans are better off not even knowing the truth, just knowing that someone got caught. The US may bomb some international locations as well, but again, it doesn't really matter if they killed the right people, or even all the people; all the Government has to say is that they did, and people will be satisfied.
 
If a country acted in aiding terrorists against us in this attack, congress should declare war against that country.

Then we should destroy that country. We can warn the citizens that they have 3 days to get out of the country before we reduce it to uninhabitable rubble. Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, UAE... if you are guilty, either hand over any inforation you know about these terrorists and their co-conspirators or pray for mercy in the afterlife.

We must show the world and other terrorist organizations that attacking american soil is something they never, never want to do.

Nukes ensure that not one american soldier will be lost as a casualty in this war.
