There are laws protecting folks from being evicted, usually requiring written notice and 30 days, I think. If you can't pay your rent, you can't pay it. Wait until you get your first check, then pay your rent plus whatever late fees your place charges.

1) Maybe someone here can help you out. Send you $450 paypal for the computer if you ship and provide tracking??? Alot to ask but hey.. Like George Bush said. "Help your fellow american :)"

2) If worst comes to worst your landlord will have a hard time evicting you. It doesn't happen overnight. It takes time and has to go through the court unless you voluntarily leave on your own.

Best of luck.

A couple members have PMed me to offer to help out. Nothing concrete yet, but it does make me appreciate AT as a community. There have also been several ideas offered over PM that I am pursuing.

However, as one of the ideas mentioned involved Paypal, I just signed up for it, and would like to request a favor from AT at large. The member who suggested it is having trouble on his end with Paypal, so I just need one person to send me one penny. PM me for the address. I'll send it back, too, I just need it for testing purposes.
