Pawn Stars is great and anyone who thinks they rip people off is just an idiot. No one is forced to sell anything, and some people just need cash like, now.

Pickers is a good concept but the guys are just lame as hell. Are they gay together? l read that Mike is openly gay but Frank is like his little midget sidekick. Couldn't find much info on him... Regardless there is just something about those two that I can only describe as 'lame'
Mike sure seems gay, but I thought they mentioned that the girl on the show is his gf or something. Of course, they may have been joking about that. I'm surprised they do so well because I could see Mike being a little too slick for most average people.

Hate to break it to you, but the show is staged. The production assistant for the show is a friend of the family and people are recruited to be on the show. They don't simply walk in from off the street and get to be filmed. The production team looks for interesting items and interesting people and then a select few get to be filmed. It's much more organized than people think.

I find it interesting that when people want to disprove or sound important they always have a friend or a friend of a friend.....

I happen to know Rick`s sister who is never mentioned on the show personally...she says your full of caca!!

Yeah I can't figure out how pickers could even get close to breaking even. They drive thousands of miles to buy a couple of bikes and some doorknobs for $200, which wouldn't even cover gas money, much less hotels and the rest of the business.

ive been trying to figure that out since pickers started. not only that but having a network of antique dealers to buy the rusty old shit they dig out of a barn.

For everyone who's wondering how the guys on American Pickers make money:

http://community.history.com/topic/1943/t/How-Do-They-Make-Money-.html

Basically, it seems like they make the bulk of their money from sales volume. From the few items shown on the show, you might not think that they're making much of a profit... but they're probably flipping A LOT more items than it seems. Also, they make a decent amount of money off the show I'm sure, so that helps.
